RN I Molly's dad is for sure over 70 and he was very upset. I truly believe him. But I think I will rescind my offer.

RN I'm 95% sure I have new tenant starting April 11. Looks like I may actually be able to pay my bills until July. :-)

Good news about the new tenant.

Tough one about Molly.

Yeah, but Naja can't become the sucker pet sitter who will keep your dog for free, or she will soon have no paying dogs.

Oh I agree.

Is there some compromise, Naja, like he would pay for any day where you had to turn away a paying customer because Molly was there, obviously pay for her food, treats, any vet bills and a reasonable weekly grooming fee.

I know you would be texting him with video updates to keep him engaged.

How long have Molly and her human been clients?

RN I think I am out of the woods as to having to take her. He left me a review yesterday and tipped me through the app, which meant he saw my offer. He didn't take me up on it then, so I think he won't.

RN I just realized it's spring! :-)

Oh, that is good. Hope he has a good solution but it isn't your responsibility.

RN getting ready for the spring, summer, and fall season on our patio where we spend probably 70%+ of our waking hours. Lots to do to get ready and recover from winter. First major project has been an overhaul of our outdoor sound system. Old speakers and wire were 20+ years old and it was time for an upgrade. Completed that today and it sounds great. Next is recovery of my flower beds. All that planting I did last year took a beating with two weeks of freezing weather. My nursery guy said this past winter was particularly hard on even plants rated for this area and he has a lot of customers replacing or redoing their beds.

RN I always thought I had the silliest license plate number because the second half is the word "tot". Look what parked next to me yesterday at the grocery store! LOL

Mine is the blue car on the left. I blocked the first part of the numbers for privacy.

To funny, Naja. I wonder if the owner of the car is a cute, single guy that's your age. It could have been a match made in heaven. :-)

RN, the landscaper came unexpectedly to finish the huge tree they started last week and cut down the others.

I was told he was just dropping the machinery off and was going to do it tomorrow. So, I left my car in the driveway and it was wet from the rain yesterday, and it got covered with sawdust before i moved it.. Now I'll have to clean it. So unnecessary.

Anyway, RN, I finished baking oatmeal, chocolate chip, raison cookies for him and his crew and just gave it to them. I told them they need to keep their strength up. He does have the nicest, hardworking crew around.

RN, my truck is not repairable.... well, it is, but for $17,500.... which is three times it's current value.

I don't want to car shop. I hate car shopping. I don't even know what kind of car I want... other than some kind of smaller SUV.

Help!!!

RN... well, I sent their estimate and inspection report to MY mechanic up here, and he said he's "not buying it".... so now I'm having it towed up here so he can look at it.

We shall see.

But just in case, do send your mid-size SUV recommendations!

OK, while I'm truly sorry your truck may have died...

Oh, goodie! Car shopping! My brain is still 3/4 engaged I this and I can concentrate on this instead of the horrors of the world.

So, a few questions.

Brand new or used?
Gas, electric or hybrid?

And stay away from Fords! They are garbage, so I've been told.

So

I love my Ford Explorer. Third one I’ve had and never an issue. I’m sticking with gas right now. Charging stations away from home are hard to find here.

RN, Used, definitely. Can't afford a new car. i'm going to need to stay around $20,000 since I'm going to have a hard time qualifying for a loan on disability... may need to just take it out of retirement and pay cash.

Gas is fine, would consider hybrid.

My rental car is a Ford Edge, that's about the right size. Mack, I think an Explorer is bigger than I'd want for just me. I really liked the Edge, altho all the newfangled stuff was REALLY hard for me to figure out (like getting it into reverse! LOL).

It needs to be an SUV because I can't get in and out of cars that are too low to the ground.

I found this article that might help narrow down some choices.

13 Easiest Cars To Get In And Out Of For Disabled Drivers

quote:

According to reports, three SUVs have the lowest number of complaints against them: the Subaru Forester, the Lexus RX, and the Toyota Rav 4. These vehicles make getting in and out of the car easy, all while providing peace of mind and a good driving experience.

And then they go on to list a bunch more cars that might be good.

And here's another one.

19 best cars that are easy to get in and out of + their safety features

If you're buying used, I'd stick with a gas car. Just because of maintence costs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I was told that if you need new tires, you have to replace all 4 at the same time. The tires are more expensive and wear out faster. Also, the batteries are extremely expensive, and it probably wouldn't be under warranty. And is insurance more expensive because parts cost more?

And definitely get something with a backup camera. Makes life easier.

Mack, I was talking with my contractor yesterday about cars. He recently bought a 2018 Ford 150. It's in mint condition, and I think it only has about 50,000 miles on it, but it's already gone through 3 transmissions. He just had the 3rd one put in and he says he needs to take it back to the dealer because he says he can feel it slipping again. But he still loves it! It's a diesel, so maybe that has something to do with that. Or it was just a bad year. I'm happy that you've had good luck with yours!

The older RAV4’s are dependable and smaller than the new ones. I’ve had my RAV for 13 years with minimal maintenance issues. I make sure to keep all the maintenance up to date though.

No problem, Kar. After you read the lists, pick a few that you are interested in and go on YouTube and put in the search the models you like. I liked the reviews that candy confection ( I think that's their name) and the Car Guy and watch them. That will give you an idea if they'll work for you or not. Then you can go to the websites of your local dealer, see what they actually have in stock. If there is something you like, you can go back to YouTube and search for the actual year of the model and see the review for that year. And Google the models you like and see what year's of that model to avoid. Some years can be clunkers. Watching the YouTube videos can become addictive. Just warning you. :-)
