Tropical Depression 18 formed Monday morning, and is expected to get the name Rafael before moving into the Gulf of Mexico this week, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Gulf of Mexico? We just moved into a wonderful condo smack dab right on the Gulf of Mexico 3-4 days ago and are not even finished unpacking. I can SEE the GULF OF MEXICO from my 2nd floor condo window. Oh well ...

Yes, Rafael is headed that way but may loose steam and they are not sure where it might go along Texas, Louisiana, etc. yet.

Good news from Canada: sea ice forming along W. Hudson Bay where polar bears are waiting to leave for the fall hunt. Bears came off ice in good shape from spring hunt & this may be an earlier-than-usual freeze-up, like 2020. You can see the ice from shore. ++

Multiple injuries reported in explosive, uncontained Ventura County fire
Fierce winds drove an explosive Southern California wildfire as it devoured a parched landscape and threatened homes in Ventura County on Wednesday morning, triggering a smattering of evacuations that led to traffic jams on roadways, officials said.
“Evacuation orders are in effect, and we urge residents to follow these orders for their safety,” the department said. “Several individuals have been injured and transported to local hospitals. Numerous structures are currently threatened.”

OMG!!!!!!! It's raining! Not a heavy rain but enough that I heard something, turned off the volume on the TV, and it was rain! Also not enough so that it makes it down 3 balconies to rain on mine so I don't have to remove the cushions but IT IS RAIN!! So happy.
Skies are cloudy and gray with a bit of a breeze and temps going to 62.
They are calling it Light Rain and it will last until 1pm.
