I use Calengoo which I have had from early days on Amazon Fire tablets and still use on one.

I don't need day crossing bars so I stick with agenda mode..

Your colored bars look nice!

Yeah, I wish you could do more than just change the color of the dots when you have a specific appt time. That would be helpful.

The agenda format works for me. I add notes for issues I want to bring up if I have a doctor appointment., just text.

Whoa, you two, or three! I have used Google calendar for many years, and love it, but I have never done any of that fancy color stuff. What I mainly like about it is that I can set multiple reminder dates and times for any event, and when I have something coming up that I suspect I am likely to want to procrastinate on, I can set it to remind me daily, so that I can be forced to do the task so I can turn off the reminder.

I have used Google calendar for years as a teacher and mom - always color coded. Took me a hot second to figure out how to make my work calendar in Outlook behave similarly, but I have conquered it. The only downside is that it is much more limited color-wise. Since it's my retirement job and not as complicated as teaching, it's workable.

Ok ... Naja turned me on to a great tablet, the Blackview one. I do love it, but now it is having charging issues, I think the port thingie is bent or something. I have a binder clip holding the charging cable in place to get it to charge.

Anyway this means I am looking for a new tablet so I can take this one to be repaired and then decide if the cost is worth it.

So Naja ... should I get the same tablet or is there a better more improved one out there I should look into.

Thanks for your help!!

Today I am trying something interesting. I am going to attempt to install windows 11 on my older windows 10 laptop that claims it doesn't have the system requirements. I feel like it can handle it. I'll let you know if the app I found works and if the laptop survives.

Good luck Naja. In the case of my computer there were two issues and one wasn't possible to fix or install.

But my motherboard died anyway.

The app I am using bypasses any windows requirements checks. No matter how many. For me it claims my model of Intel Core i7 processor is one that is not compatible. I'm on my phone right now waiting while it's installing. I'm getting close!

I’ll be interested in hearing what happens. I find the Windows 11 restrictions very frustrating.

WOO HOO!! Here I am surfing with firefox using Windows 11 Pro on the laptop that windows updates blocked me and told me doesn't have the system requirements!

I'll post details after I get this a little more squared away and make sure it doesn't kill the laptop LOL

Well, everything seems to be working fine. Although, until I got all the updates installed (took over 3 hours), as well as my browser and antivirus, it felt like I was climbing through sludge.

I installed mine on the secondary drive so I would still have Win 10 if this didn't work. I think this whole process is a nerd thing. LOL

You need a USB thumb drive at least 10 gigs.

Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO) for x64 devices to your computer. Scroll down a little to find it.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11

Buy Windows 11 Pro key here for $5. It's emailed to you instantly, but mine took like an hour before it was activated and I could use it.
https://www.electronicfirst.com/windows-11-professional-retail-key?c=USD

You need Winbootmate $29, and follow the directions on this page to remove the windows requirements checks and burn the iso to the USB drive.
https://www.syscute.com/guide/winbootmate.html

You also have to set your computer to boot from USB after you burn your iso to the thumb drive. It's different on every computer, so you have to figure that out for yourself.

After you boot from USB, you just install Windows like normal.

How is the speed? What about future updates from Microsoft (security updates, etc.)? Will they be installed automatically? Does Microsoft recognize your OS as legitimate?

The OS is legit and Windows updates works fine. As far as speed, surfing is fast, but there's a bit of a lag when you first open an app. But that got better is the day went on. I think a lot of things are going on in the background. I got the laptop in 2012 so it's definitely not super fast in the first place anymore.

Anyway, my final feelings on the subject are that I would only do this if I had to. For me it slowed some things down and I don't like that. I was reading that it didn't do that for most people, but you'll never know until you try. But now we know it IS possible to put Windows 11 on a machine even when it supposedly doesn't meet the requirements. But I definitely wouldn't even try with less than 8 gigs of ram because it was using about 50% of the 8 just doing simple things.

Speaking of computers. I want to buy two new ones (Mac Desktop and laptop) before the end of the year. I am winding down my business, but want to take the opportunity to buy them now to offset that income, rather than buy them later and get no tax deduction.

I'm weighing two issues;
- A lot of posts saying that prices are going to be escalating as vendors start to anticipate higher tariffs
- Waiting until Black Friday, Cyber Monday sales for the best pricing.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm watching the prices carefully.

Showing my ignorance here but does Apple have significant Black Friday sales? I thought their pricing was pretty stable with few big sales.

I don’t know if you’ve considered this but I think there can be some good deals on refurbished Apple products? My DD has got some wonderful stuff that way that has lasted her for years. They look like new.
