RN If anybody is bored, I grabbed the parts of my driveway cam when the cops were around. I wish I would have had it pointed at the door. It took a lot longer for me to wake up than I thought. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFRm3leY81I And then about 5 mins later, they were across the street. I heard a woman say "I told him to get off my property" so maybe that's where they were meant to go. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGADHATHCGA

Very bizarre. The only thing I will say before anyone else watches it (I'm looking at you, Jujusupercop) is keep an eye on the house across the street in the top left corner.

It does look like the bulk of the activity was across the street.. And out on that road or highway, lots of early morning commuters These days here pretty much anyone would be fearful..

absolutely wiped out tonight - go to Games/Trivial Pursuit, where I just wrote my first ever prehumous eulogy, and I hope to hell Mamie makes it through to kick my ass AND thank me for it.

RN nursing a bruised little toe. Hit the leg of a chair last night about 11pm. Hurts like heck. Taped it up. Why does the little toe always hurt more than any others?

It sounds like Carey had an amazing career and was well respected by the people who worked with her. The U.S. government is lucky to have people like her. I wish her equal success and joy in her retirement.

RN Carey has officially retired. She’s presently on her way home from her last day of work. All badges, IDs, computers, cell phone, etc., have been turned.

I apologize for having to ask this, but now that she has retired, my wife was asking me what was Carey‘s title and role in government? I know it was amazing and you’ve probably mentioned it many times but I honestly don’t know the details.

She's gonna find it reallllly weird at first. The first thing I was going to do (when I retired realllly young at age 52), was to see EVERY Academy Award nominated film every year. Probably have not seen even ONE movie since we retired. BUT, we have been to over 100 countries and all 7 continents, without ever having intended to do so.

Carey was the Chief Financial Officer of the Department of Defense/War Defense Health Agency. It was a director level position with over 800 personnel under her. The Defense Health Agency is responsible for health care for 9 million plus service members both active and retired and their family members worldwide. Healthcare funding runs in the billions of dollars and all those funds flowed through Carey and her staff to hospitals, clinics, and other care providers. She was fantastic at her job and received the Department of Defense/War Distinguished Service Award at her retirement ceremony.

Juju-I’m pretty sure she’ll have moments of actually missing her work and particularly her staff. She is a people first leader and manager. Last night we were having a couple of adult beverages on the patio and the consistent theme of her comments were that she hoped she’d left her people in a good situation to succeed. As for the future we have plenty of plans. I’ve jokingly mentioned projects around the house but those are kind of day to day things. In May we’re off to Europe and the Med for a couple of weeks. Then we have plans to visit friends in Georgia later this summer and Florida in the winter. We’re open to almost any adventure so we’ll see what else strikes our fancy. I do know at least right now she has no interest in working again. A couple of companies have already approached her about being a consultant but she has told them she’s not interested.

RN Just got a short video via text from our friend in Georgia. Her daughter, granddaughter, and husband live in Doha, Qatar. The clip shows what appears to be the intercept of either drones or missiles above their house. Hard to see any details as I’d guess the intercept(s) was a couple of thousand feet above them. No reports from them that debris has fallen on their house.

Mack, as someone who was also responsible for a financial group during my work life, although not as extensive as Carey’s, I fully understand wanting her staff to succeed in her absence. I didn’t miss the work, but missed my staff more than anything. I’m sure her staff will have moments, but will succeed with all the knowledge that she left with them. I also resonated with your comment about having no interest in working again. When I retired, I was so ready to do something else. I’ve been asked to volunteer my accounting and financial services a few times, but have always declined. Life is now as full of adventures as you want it to be. I wish her joy in her retirement.

Thanks for the kind words Kookliebird. Part of not working again is luckily neither of us has to work. We will have two pensions, her Social Security, her very nice 401K, and my spousal share of her Social Security. With the help of our financial advisor we have made some pretty good cuts to our monthly expenses with more to come as Carey will no longer be commuting to work, clothing expenses, lunch’s, etc., etc. It will take a few months to settle in but we’ll be fine.
