RN, Naja, I'm so pleased that you were able to find a house and are settling in so nicely.

RN Mrs Mack is starting to show the stress of winding down her career. Yesterday she addressed the majority of her 800 person staff with her last “all hands meeting”. Because her staff is literally spread all over the US these meeting are done via the Internet. Obviously a lot knew she was retiring but this was her opportunity to address the whole staff one last time. She said she held together until after the meeting then closed her office door to recover a bit.

RN I hope Mrs Mack enjoys her retirement :-)

RN I think I'll be able to post my bathroom "after" pics tonight as long as my shower curtain rings show up today.

I think credit goes to Naja in this case.. though Dipo does things well too.

All three of my bathrooms or 2.5 bathrooms got gutted.. With 2 being re-gutted. Definitely a relief to have them finished.

Naja such a nice place for you to shower upstairs!!

Did Patsy and Dolly supervise?

I Googled 'wainscotting' because I had never heard of it.

Now, my computer receives daily advertisements for it.

RN Thanks, everyone. It's such a relief not to have to go to the basement shower anymore :-).

Kappy, this is the shower I got. The floor sold separately lower on the shower page.

The dogs were kept faaaaar from the bathroom during all this with a baby gate at the end of the hall.

You created a very relaxing ambience.

Yes, no close doggie supervision is wise and I am sure they performed their lookout duties perfectly on the other side of the gate.

RN it was an “oh crap” mornings. We are having our roof redone because of hail damage along with damage to gutters and window screens. The contractor included replacing all of our window screens at the same time so this morning we started taking out the screens. To do that you have to open the window. Well it’s been 20 years since some of those windows have been open and out of the first nine windows four of them basically broke. The glass is fine but we were barely able to get them closed and we could hear the opening/closing slides and springs breaking. We have 31 windows so we quit and didn’t open the rest. The windows in this house are 26 years old and reluctantly it is time to replace them. Ugh!

That's a lot of windows! I just counted mine and we have 14 and a sliding glass door. Granted, 2 of the windows are HUGE bay windows that take up much of the wall.

With this extra cold winter this year, thank goodness we had the sliding glass door and 1 bay window replaced last year. I was finding ice on the inside of them last winter. We still need to replace the kitchen window and the bedroom windows in 2 rooms. It got to cold before we could get it done, and I was way, way past my tolerance limit of having the contactor in my house anymore.

You have my sympathies.

AND DON'T GET ANDERSON!

RN Holy crap, Mack! I can't even imagine the cost! One thing I didn't notice at first with my new house, is while they put in new windows not long ago, they didn't replace the basement ones. So I was down there putting some stuff away, and it sounded like the cars on the street were right there in the basement. So I checked the windows and they are falling apart. So next batch of savings will likely go to replacing all 7 basement windows

Grooch-We have a two story 4,000 SF house with four bedrooms. Yup too much house but when we bought it 23 years ago our family was much larger than now. We’ve lost over 50% of our family that once numbered 12 now only five. We have thought about downsizing but prices of smaller homes have exploded and we’re seven years out for owning it.
