Naja, glad you heard from Endo guy.

It seems like for these people who come in to work these temporary jobs, they are really put in tricky situations, needing to secure a temporary place to live, but not knowing if they have the job until last minute...

That affects you, too, of course.

Naja, I'm delighted that you have a new tenant!
I hope he is nice, polite and well humored and a positive addition to Casa Naja.

RN I just teared up over Dolly Martin's Instagram post. She is personally donating $1 million to relief efforts for those hit by Hurricane Helene. This will be matched by another $1 million from her East Tennessee businesses.

She continues to be a national treasure.

Oops, yes, Dolly Parton, the human..

RN I am pretty sure you meant Dolly Parton. Yes, she is wonderful :-) That's why I named my pup her whole name. She just exudes kindness and love.

I still have some work to get done before Endo arrives tomorrow night, and I have so many dogs here that it's hard to get it done. Plus, I have 2 meet and greets this afternoon. 2 pm and 5 pm.

RN I just had the most fun meet & greet with a 6 month old hound mix named Hunter. A woman and her 12 yr old son (I think he has cerebral palsy) were told at the last meet and greet that the woman would not watch her dog until she gets him a trainer and breaks his habit of biting when he plays. It's too disruptive to the other dogs and starts fights. So I watched him play with all the dogs here today for like 45 minutes, (Dolly, Patsy, Tucker, Deebo) and didn't see anything unusual. All the dogs used their mouths when doing their wresting play. They all had a blast and they all got along. I told her I didn't see anything wrong with how he plays! He plays like a normal puppy. That other sitter must be a bit persnickety. And I got a bit ticked inside because you could see this nice lady was convinced by one sitter that her puppy was a bad dog.

RN One more meet and greet in 2 hours with 2 dogs from the same family.

RN Well CRAP! His contract was push back to Oct 14th. So I have another week. I just spent the last 2 days scrubbing down the house, and now I'll have to do it again next week.

RN just talked to our Georgia friend who took in initially took in 13 Helene ā€œrefugeesā€. All have power and water turned back on so the 10 who were still there left for Augusta this afternoon. Now she turns her attention getting ready to move on the 18th.

RN it occurred to me as I am watching an old Canadian sitcom, "Less Than Kind", that I have never seen anyone eating poutine in any Canadian show.
I've seen beans and toast, fish and chips and spotted dick in UK shows. Croissants, snails (shudder) and beef bourguignon in shows set in France. Schnitzel, bratwurst and black forest cake in Germany.
Is poutine not as popular as I thought?

RN I'm not Canadian, but from what I have read, it really is a popular dish, especially in Quebec. I wonder if Jimmer will chime in.

RN Last night I started boarding the most interesting breed of dog. His name is Winston (Winnie) and he's a Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. He's 5 years old.

I'm getting to see the most interesting breeds in person for the first time :-)

RN Sugar, until Jimmer swings by to comment, here's another Canadian opinion re: Poutine...
Personally I'm not a big fan. BUT I have friends who absolutely love it.

(I'm not a big fries fan altogether. My preference is for Sweet Potato Fries lately.)

RN Here is today's crowd :-) Thankfully, Deebo goes home today after being here a week, and 5 month old Hunter goes home at 7:30pm. Winston is going to be here I think 10 days.

YW. RN, here in Miami bracing for another hurricane. It has been crazy here. I am staying at an air BNB and no sooner have I put furniture back on the balcony, I have to take it back in. This week should be interesting. The warnings I am getting from the Condo are far more serious than the last one.

RN, as Mame hinted at, poutine seems a little scary to me.

You tend to see it at places like the Canadian National Exhibition (a big fair thatā€™s in Toronto every year). Iā€™ve never actually tried it.

RN, Maris - southeast US just can't catch a break. Not even close to reaching everyone (people are still stranded in Asheville) yet... hopefully it won't turn that direction.

I lived in Tampa, and so unusual for storms to come in that direction, and straight at Tampa Bay!

RN I made it once. I posted pictures of it. But I used cheddar curds because it was the only curds I could find. If I do it again, I am going to use mozzarella curds. Oh, and I loved it :-)

RN I found the picture I posted! YOu can see the steam coming off. Everything I read before I made it said the key is to make sure it's all very hot so the cheese stays melted.

RN I didn't realize you were that far down Florida, Maris. I hope everything goes well! Mom is in Tampa. I wonder if anything is going to be hitting them. She's doesn't answer texts when she's out and about so I can't get an answer from her about yet.

RN, I am here on a job. have been here since 9/22 will be here till 11/1, then back to NY to vote and back down to Miami. If I knew this job would take so long I would have gone with absentee voting.

Naja, the hurricane is set to make landfall right into Tampa Bay, last I heard.
