RN I thought I already posted this. I guess not.

RN Just to head it off, we'll be calling the my new tenant "Nurse Debbie". She's moving in Saturday afternoon! :-) She has a 3 month contract at a nearby hospital. She's a gorgeous tiny blond in her 60s.

Tell our property owners more about yourself:

I'm an Interventional Radiology nurse. We basically sedate patients for vascular procedures. We can retrieve a clot out of a vessel from your toes to the top of your head. We open up vessels that are occluded by plasty, stenting, and lasering. We also do vertebral plasty, but don't worry, we get anesthesia to do big cases like that. The best part of my job, I get to wear 8lbs of lead while we are in the radiology suite. Our lead comes in skirts, vests, glasses and thyroid guards to protect us from all the radiation we"re exposed to daily. Sounds fun, right. LOL I love it.

Dream Job
Nursing/Dog Rescue

And she owns a pit bull! Thank GOD. She won't be freaked out by Max and Naveen who are coming the the same day she's getting here.

My mom was a Midwestern raised cook.. Indiana,

I don't remember anything about food from birth to 4 years old in near Washington D.C.,where I was born, other than feeding my brother baby cereal and, so I am told, at one point I was tasked with keeping him occupied while mom was cooking, and it got too quiet and she discovered that I was feeding him cigarette butts (no filters). She later said she didn't blame me, but herself.

I do remember Detroit from 4 til my 13th birthday and indeed, no decent fresh fruits or veggies in winter, but my dad wanted tomato slices year round, so I learned to spot the best of what was available. And in summer, no chocolate in the corner soda fountain due to lack of air conditioning.

California.. We rented a house at first, 18 months, and it was built on Orange grove land, with two Orange trees in each back yard, plus there were beef steak tomato plants that produced tomatoes that made dad's heart sing.. And we all loved them. Mom made fresh orange juice...

But she still overcooked meat ,(which was ok with her pot roast which was delicious with roasted potatoes, carrots, onions and the little slivers of garlic she would sneak into slits in the meat and carefully remove prior to serving, because dad was convince that he hated garlic, but he loved her pot roast.

When he was diagnosed as anemic, he refused to eat liver but we started having rare steak on Friday which the rest of us found we preferred. California brought rare burgers, too.. in restaurants.. Mom just overcooked them.

The item I hated most was canned peas and there was no dog to feed them to.

I got in big trouble for hiding my raw carrots behind books .

........

Naja, so sorry about your Zelle woes and hurricane losses.

Look forward to hearing about Nurse Debbie..

RN Nurse Debbie just texted she is arriving tomorrow instead of today. She said she still has too much to do before she leaves. She was going to arrive a few hours before the pit bulls get here, but now I have to try to keep the place perfect for a day with 2 pit bulls here

RN, Ok I admit I did go google what the deal was with the French Pole Vaulter's Penis, but that doesn't mean I want to receive penis enhancing emails, hahahahahaha.

But you will! When I go to clean out my spam folder, penis enhancement is definitely a prominent category.

RN Nurse Debbie seems wonderful so far! She's 62 and a ball of energy. She filled her designated food cabinet up with nothing but candy and salty snacks. OH, and 2 cans of tuna. LOL

RN The pit bulls are here and being horrible. And she's scared. I have to put them in my room or outside when she needs the kitchen. Max already shredded the inside of my bedroom door. Well, not shredded, but scratched it up good. Yolanda will be back late tonight, so maybe tomorrow night all of us can get these dogs used to Nurse Debbie. Yolanda has a better way with them than I do.

Oh no... why is she scared? Are they just a lot?
Are they crate-trained? That might be a better solution than losing your door.

What about baby gates that will keep them out of the kitchen while she is in it? (assuming you don't have a big open floor plan).

RN It's worse than just gating them will fix. They bark so loud and mean that they make it where neither of us can even think. So I just stay on the bedroom with them. She's at work until until about 6. I asked her text me on her way home so the dogs will be outside and she can just have time to do anything anywhere in the house.

Okay, I might give her a handful of kibble that she can toss to them (while they are outside) that they can sniff out. That will do 2 things: 1 - they will start seeing her as the bringer of good things. 2- Sniffing calms doggie brains and will help them settle. She can repeat as often as you like. You should go out with her and block them from her, so she feels safe. Also, have your dogs inside while you do this.

ETA: Also, she should otherwise ignore them! I know this is counter intuitive and people try to soothe-talk or baby-talk. But this only heightens a pup's anxiety. I hate Cesar Milan, but one thing he had right "no touch, no talk, no eye contact." It really works.

I get it. While I know that pit bulls can be very loving, I admit the breed scares me and I truly believe they can sense that and it can make them react. Maybe your own two dogs will help bridge the gap like they did with the neighbor dog.

RN It was so hectic, it didn't even occur to me to have her give them treats. If she's up for it, we'll try it tonight.

RN... very important that she not have to *hand* treats to them. Have her toss them, away from her. I cannot stress how important that is!

Once they are calm, she can work up to handing them treats... but not while they are very excited.

If they are trained to sit, it would also be good for her to ask for a sit (as allows) before tossing the treats. And don't ignore the sniffing and seeking part... it's so important.

Glad it is working out.

We used to start sit for food with baby puppies really early. They looked so cute and proud.

With all that junk food, I assume Nurse Debbie ears meals at the hospital with an employee discount.

RN You won't believe this crazy coincidence. The pit bulls' mom is a nurse practitioner and works in the same hospital and on the same floor as my new Nurse Debbie. The pit bulls' Mom won't be back at work from vacation until next Friday so they won't meet until then. I have the pit bulls until Monday.

Oh, I hope Nurse Debbie hasn't bad mouth the pit bulls to anyone at work. That would be awkward. Lol!
