I swear it was down right cold yesterday! I know the temps didn't say that but going from almost 100 to 75 I had to wear winter clothes. Today it's still cloudy looking although that could be haze and smoke. Supposed to be sunny going up to 81.

The first, bigger one, unknown... altho some say it was a smoldering lightning strike. The fire itself is still 10 miles away, but the mandatory evacuation area is only 3 miles away from me now. The second appears to be a house fire that the wind blew sparks around to the surrounding very DRY forested area and with the heat, wind and fuel, it just blew up immediately.

Yeah, flying sparks are scary, because the fire travels long distances and if areas with tall palm trees those are light torches waiting to be lit and often explode. But any dry brush is a hazard, especially when it it hot and dry.

Now a third fire southwest of Denver (a long way from me). But it appears to threaten more homes. The fire southwest of me burned 5 houses and killed one person so far. I think that fire hit so fast and so near residential areas there wasn't enough time for everyone to get evacuated. I know that some friends of mine got the evac order and by the time they drove home, the area was already closed and they couldn't get to their homes without escorts. (Mostly to save live animals, otherwise they weren't allowed in at all).
