RN Juju, so do I!

Yesterday I had my house ducts and vents cleaned for the very first time. I didn't even know it was a thing until they started flooding the tv screen with ads about it a couple years ago. There was a $250 special going on for homes under 3000 sq ft.

Here is a snapshot of the the live cam the technician was doing of the inside of the ducts. OMG they were so dirty! I forgot to get an after snapshot when he was showing me, but they were spotless!

RN A travel nurse named Debbie is supposed to be moving in August 11th. 3 months for sure, hopefully more if her contract is extended. And then I have a really lovely lady (46 yo) who I have been talking to for a month or so named Bree who may be coming next month for Yolanda's room. We'll see what happens.

But yes, I wanted to cry when she finally told me she was leaving. Her husband will still be coming here to work on occasion, and if I have an open room, I'll be letting him have it a week at a time. I told you he already stayed here once. He's so sweet and he barely speaks English. He's one month younger than I am.

Hopefully you can zoom or Facetime with Yolanda now and then, or just text. And I hope the new people work out well.

Naja, start learning Spanish. You are brilliant, and it will be easy. Just open your mind to it. You already speak dog, and Spanish is way easier. Also the dogs speak all languages. I am serious.

RN I already know some Spanish from 2 years of it in school :-)

RN I have a brand new client today. Her name is Bandit and she is the silliest looking and sweetest girl ever. She's 9 1/2. She's about half the size of a regular boxer.

RN Hola, Dogdoc!

RN Here is Barry Manilow last night at his final St. Paul Concert. Not too bad for just turning 81!

RN Yolanda has never had artichokes except for already in a dip or something, so I'm making some for her to try.

RN, I had never lived before I had an artichoke leaf plucked off a freshly steamed fresh artichoke, and then dipped that leaf in butter and then scraped it across either my bottom or top front teeth. OMG, Naja, you have probably changed that woman's whole life. She needs to live with you forever.

I am sure by now there are Youtubes on how to prepare and eat an artichoke. I (being from midwest America) would have lived my whole life never trying an artichoke had I not married Bigdog, whose midwest mother somehow knew about artichokes.

RN OMG Juju, the sounds coming from Yolanda while she was eating her artichoke were crazy! She loved loved it! I don't think I have ever had someone thank me for introducing them to a food.

RN I can't believe what just happened! I still have goosebumps!

I needed to finally get my Mastercard put in just my name. There was about a $2,000 balance on it. I called the card company and they told me that DH was the primary account holder. All this time I thought we both were.

Anyway, he said he can't put it in my name and has to close the account. Well this scared me until he said that since DH passed and was the primary account holder, the balance will be wiped out and I just have to open my own card.

I said you mean I don't have to pay it? And he said "correct"!

Well, that's just something about the credit card, Naja! I had sort of the reverse happen last winter while we were in Texas. I got a notice from a credit monitoring bureau that I had submitted a change of address on one of our credit cards, and found out then I was just an add-on user, and then Bigdog couldn't remember what his favorite hobby was 20 years ago when we opened the account, and we had not added either of our cell phone numbers to the account because it was so old, and we just didn't think to do it, and the credit card bank would not leave a verifying voice mail on our home phone. So, bottom line, WE got shut out of the account, and they forwarded any mailed communications to the criminals in Orlando, until we got back home and could answer the phone at the telephone number originally on the account. (I am leaving out the hundred of hours of things I did from TX to remedy the situation).

I KNEW Yolanda would love the artichoke. I don't know how anybody could not, if they are fixed the right way (NOT the bottled ones in jars) and one knows how to eat them. This is NOT an intuitive vegetable, and sadly, this has become a very expensive vegetable these days (they can go for $5 apiece where I live in the Pacific Northwest).

RN I don't know how you cook artichokes, Juju, but I cook them the way my mom always has. Boil them with salt and and quartered squeezed lemons for about 30 to 40 minutes (covered) depending how big they are. That's actually my photo up there cooking them.

RN Your story is making me think I should just cancel the Visa I never use.
