NBC News @NBCNews · 1h Authorities have issued evacuation orders as a wildfire in Los Angeles County spreads thousands of acres close to a major highway and threatens nearby structures. The Post Fire burned more than 4,400 acres near the Interstate 5 freeway in Gorman. Firefighters working in sweltering conditions and steep terrain raced to douse spot fires that erupted as unpredictable winds blew embers ahead of the flames, said Kenichi Haskett, a section chief for the LA County Fire Department. The gusts also hampered efforts by aircraft crews to drop water and fire retardant, he said.

SFGATE @SFGate · 38m After brief cooling, 'drastic' heat predicted for Bay Area by the weekend A significant warming trend is forecasted for the weekend, Dalton Beringer, a metrologist for the National Weather Service told SFGATE. In San Francisco, Saturday will be the hottest day, with temperatures in the mid to upper 70s in the city's eastern side, and into the 60s in the western side of the city, Beringer said. As for the rest of the Bay Area, it's predicted to be around the 80s in most places, and the hottest in the South Bay, he said. It could also reach up to 100 degrees in northern Sonoma County, he added. https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/drastic-heat-predicted-bay-area-weather-weekend-

Before we moved to San Francisco and lived there for five years, I used to look at the weather and wonder how the temps for one single could be predicted as 50-70 for the low and 56-84 for the high. Like, could they not predict it any better than that? And then I moved to live in the 50 low to 56 high area for 5 lovely years, right at the coast, and understood perfectly.

It’s been wet here in San Antonio but nothing like what happened along the Gulf Coast in Galveston and Corpus Christie. My home weather station registered just over an inch of rain in 24 hours. More of a steady moderate drizzle than a downpour. Good for the grass and trees as it had a chance to seep in rather than a heavy downpour that can just run off because the ground is so dry and hard. I did turn off the sprinkler system since we didn’t need to water with “bought water”.
