Chilly out! I had to dig out the personal heater. There is a strong wind, gray skies, I guess that is clouds, no rain is expected.

Temps going to 67.

Mexico has been suffering through one of the worst heatwaves in its history over the last two weeks, shattering dozens of all-time records with no signs of letting up.

Temperatures will soar above 45°C (113°F) as a relentless heat dome restrengthens and remains parked overhead for the next 7+ days.

In the Gulf Coast state of Tabasco, it has been so hot that howler monkeys are dropping dead from the trees.

Mexico is also suffering through a brutal nationwide drought, with 70% of the nation in drought and 50% in severe drought.

Be weather-aware tonight. An enhanced risk of severe weather is present across the northeast quarter of the state, while a slight risk covers the remaining areas of Arkansas. There is a potential for very large hail, damaging straight-line winds, and tornadoes.

Rough is the best word right now. We’re expecting potentially extreme thunder, lightning, and rain tonight. Mrs Mack spent seven hours at the airport here trying to get to a conference in Raleigh, NC where she was to be a guest speaker tomorrow. Delay after delay and finally an outright cancellation. Went back and picked her up so she’ll present via a video hookup from our home office tomorrow.

Here in San Antonio we dodged the bullet so to speak last night. We did get 1/4 of an inch of much needed rain but no thunder, lightning, or high winds. The rest of the state, mostly to the east of us, was not so fortunate with Houston getting particularly hard hit again. Forecast is for more storms overnight but nothing forecast as extreme as last night. Mrs Mack just went to her conference prepared to give her speech via video. Of course she walks through the family room with a full business top on but shorts and flip flops below. 😬 She’ll set the camera to only show the business top. Local airport is still a mess with a couple of dozen planes parked in every open space because they couldn’t land in Dallas, Houston, or Austin. Going to take days to clear that jammed up mess.
