A ship carrying the Olympic torch arrives in Marseille amid fanfare and high security
Olympic swimmer Florent Manaudou becomes first torch carrier in France as relay heads to Paris
A majestic three-mast ship carried the Olympic torch from Greece for the welcoming ceremony at sunset Wednesday in the city’s Old Port. The ship docked on the pontoon that reflects an athletics track and Manaudou carried it to mainland France.
Tens of thousands cheered the arrival at the cordoned=off stage area on the shore as thousands of others waved from balconies and windows overlooking the festivities.
The torch was lit in Greece last month before it was officially handed to France. It left Athens aboard a ship named Belem, which was first used in 1896, and spent twelve days at sea.

French Drag Queens make history as part of 2024 Olympics #NOH8
These three French drag queens are carrying, in more ways than one. Nicky Doll, Miss Martini, and Minima Gesté were all chosen to carry the Olympic flame as it makes its way to Paris for the Summer Games in July.
This past Saturday, French drag queen Miss Martini became the first drag queen to ever carry the Olympic flame, according to an Instagram post she made.
