I live in a place where those commercials win votes. I register independent so I can vote in the primary of my choice. I vote in the primary for the least offensive candidate. I however do not vote straight D in the general. We have crazy people on the D ticket sometimes too.

In Pennsylvania, if you are registered as Independent, you cannot vote in the primary.

I get a Democratic ballot for the primary. Republicans get the Republican ballot. I don’t believe that there is an independent ballot in Oregon.

Well my ballot is done. Currently, I vote Democrat no matter what, my only distinction is if there are competing Democrats, then I research. Before the former guy I used to research and vote for the person I thought was best qualified. TNT, the primarys are to narrow the field for the parties, so only those registered for that party vote. Then everyone can vote once the ballots are decided. I take great delight in being registered Republican, I did so for my Grandpa back in the 70;s. Have never even paid attention to that registration until "45" came around and now I like them to waste their money sending me stuff that I can destroy and ignore.

Everyone, just a reminder that any ongoing political discussion should take place in the News & Views area of TVCH. Thank you.

Am I the only one tired of seeing rich celebrities and athletes in commericals? Do they really not have enough millions already that they can't let an actor who barely survives have the job? Yes, I also blame the ad companies for assuming this is what we want to see. Today I drove past a billboard and while I didn't get a chance to read the entire thing, it began with "CELEBRITY FREE" and showed an everyday grandma holding a bottle of tequila. I can guarantee you that I will be checking out the brand name closer the next time I drive by and maybe even sending them a letter to thank them. End of rant.

I watch a lot of reality shows and it's very annoying to hear the people pronounce the last word in a sentence with an 'aw'. Like 'I don't want to go-aw' 'No way-aw'Its strange to hear this added syllable at the end of their sentences!

I swear, when I am running thru twitter, seeing what has gone on, it really annoys me that they put out a headline, so and so is getting a divorce. I have no clue who these people are, and I watch A LOT of TV, LOL. I just wish they would explain who they are, so and so of the show XXXX is getting a divorce. Oh wait, this belongs in Silly Gripes. Moving it there, LOL>

Everytime it's on the news,it bugs ne that the drug gangs are usually referred to as 'cartels'. It gives them too much esteem or respect when they should called murderers, terrorists, and criminals.

I was watching My Three Sons this morning. It was a silly plot, but Bub and two women were in a bake off. When the women were called out to bake (I don't remember the actual names) they were called out as Mrs. Tom Scott and Mrs. Bob Jones Their first names were not mentioned. I am glad we don't have to be recognized as somebody's wife any more.

That was always annoying. My mom's name was Betty, and it really annoyed her when others insisted that it was really Elizabeth. And when I got married, the secretary where I had just started working, wrote up the change, with me having my maiden name as my official middle name. I made her change it to my actual middle name. My mom always used her real middle name as well.

Certainly there has been a change, for the better in my mind, over the years. Now when my wife has a work related event with announced attendance of senior leaders she is introduced “Ms Carey K*** and her husband Dr Randy K***”. Obviously she is and should be acknowledged first as she is the senior leader in her agency and I’m just there as her spouse. I don’t remember any case in our 25 years together where we have been introduced as “Mr and Mrs Randy K***”. Even at our wedding our best man introduced us as just Randy and Carey K***.

I am extremely proud of Carey and she has earned and deserves all the recognition she can get. Recognizing her by her name is certainly a part of that. It even looks like she is going to break through the “glass ceiling” and be promoted to the Senior Executive Service (SES). While all or most Federal agencies have SES positions a small percentage are occupied by women. Within the Department of Defense and the military services civilians promoted to SES are equivalent to general officers. Her agency has requested a number of SES positions and if approved Carey is one of two women who will be promoted.
