Running outside, if the quake is big and buildings are tall, can mean getting hit with falling debris. We are told to seek shelter under a sturdy table. I really don't have anything to get under. And nothing heavy on the wall over the bed.

Glad there was no damage.

When I saw the pictures of the earthquake in Taiwan, I emailed my friend who has family still in Taiwan and they were actually in Taiwan visiting! They said they were ok but it was scary.

RN I just saw I get to see 90% of the eclipse this time. Last time I had 100%. It was so cool. I'll be curious to see much of a difference that 10% will make. I'll record in the same direct as the last one 6 years ago.

Thanks for posting that video of the eclipse, Naja. I found it quite fascinating.

I suspect this year will be close to same.

Several years ago TN was deluged with people here to watch an eclipse. This one will be visible only from a tiny portion of upper NW TN! Aweinapliring experiences for sure

I was mistaken - eclipse tone degree or another will be much wider spread in TN than I at first thought. There is only a teeny portion for100% but realidy visible from much wider area!

We will get partial eclipse even here on the west coast from 10-noon pdt. I have an appointment at 8:50am nearby then drive to an 11am appointment12 miles from here, 15 from the first appointment. Hope to get to the second one early. I am bringing a colander in hopes of projecting little eclipses. Need white paper. 11am should be the best time. No eclipse glasses.. I don't trust two layers of lenses for dilated pupils over or under my sunglasses. Just not worth putting my eyes at risk..

Oh.. Pets.. They also can damage eyes so they shouldn't be outside during the entire time. The time of full eclipse is safe but how do you know and pets don't. I even heard to not let them be inside where they can look at the sun.

Not sure how many dogs you will have there tomorrow, Naja..

RN No dogs until Friday, Sea. I needed a break.

RN I just got my cam set up as close as I could to the position of the last eclipse video 6 years ago. Recording starts in 2 hours.

RN I knew the other shoe would drop. They cancelled the Pharmacists contract. But---They have to give her 2 weeks notice so she is coming here for only 2 weeks. In the mean time, her agency is going to try to reinstate her contract.

RN eclipse was a semi-bust here. Heavy overcast, which is not typical, so the special glasses were not useful. It was weird when it got so dark and quiet. Lasted about one to two minutes and all the neighborhood outdoor lights with sensors came on. Still glad I experienced it even though I couldn’t see it.

RN, we only had 65% coverage here in Colorado, but the sky was clear. Even with that small amount, it was pretty impressive, altho it never got dark out.

It just happened where I am. I don't have glasses so couldn't watch. The clouds came just before it happened. It just looks like a cloudy day outside. There wasn't a single cloud in the sky 45 minutes ago.

RN Well now I know the difference between 100% and 90% firsthand. At 90% you can't even tell an eclipse is happening unless you're looking up with eclipse glasses. There was so little change to the light on a ground that it didn't even show in the video. It just stayed sunny looking. Not even worth uploading.

I’ve seen 3 solar eclipse’s in my lifetime. One full eclipse, an almost full eclipse, and a partial. Since it was really clouded in OR, didn’t see any of this one.
Have also seen 2 moon eclipses. They were way cool.

I saw the eclipse here. It was in and out because it was quite cloudy. They said it was about 90 percent here. There was only a sliver of sun left to look at. Quite a bit less than what I and my late husband saw in 2017. There was about 1/4 of the sun left showing then. Still neat, but not like what they were showing on tv.

Here in Southern California, we of course only had a partial.. Clear sky, bright sun... I got to my doctor's office coming straight from another appointment for a blood draw for Lp(a) for a clinical trial, and just drove straight to the doctor, arrived 45 minutes early so I could walk.. No eclipse glasses but I did catch the little images that come from the eclipse being filtered through a bush or tree.

RN, sorry about the pharmacist not getting her contract, Naja. But it will be nice for you to reconnect for just that two weeks.

Sea, the last full eclipse we had here six years ago, I thought the mini-eclipses you captured were one of the coolest parts of the experience.

RN That's so neat! I've only done it with 1 hole poked through the cardboard. It never occurred to me to poke more holes!

If anyone is having trouble with Sea's photo making the thread too wide, let us know, and we'll remove it and fix the photo. Thanks. Maybe it's just me.

RN Today I am going to transform this old wrought iron chaise and this old side table into looking lovely and new. Oh, and green as well.

Honestly, Naja, it looks great being black. Can you put cushions on the chase? That would give you the boost of color you might like without having to do the painting. You could put a round placemat on the table to give it color as well. Just a thought.
