Mameblanche, here is what google said when I asked is West Palm Beach safe from the hurricane..
Even though Hurricane Idalia isn't expected to make a direct impact on the Palm Beach area, we're still preparing here for the increased winds and the storm as it passes," Seymour said. "We're also preparing to support the west coast of Florida as they prepare for impact the next couple of days.

I was in Charleston a couple years ago & it started raining. No biggie, we thought as we slogged through the downtown market, it'll stop soon. Unfortunately, the hard, quick rain hit at the same time as high tide & the streets flooded. Locals said that's normal. I can't imagine the flooding from this storm.
Praying all in Idalia's path are safe.

As Tropical Storm Idalia moved across South Carolina, it pushed the ocean inland all across the state's coast. Idalia also brought short-lived tornadoes. One flipped a car in Goose Creek, causing minor injuries, authorities said. No major damage was reported.
