So there is an incredible sale of air conditioners on Facebook lately. Two for $38.99 each. Free shipping if you buy two. So I ordered two about a week ago. Just got my tracking number today. It says they are in transit. Being flown from China. A lot of good reviews below. So I guess we will see.

Tracking number says they are in U.S. Customs for a week now. July 9. I called Customs. The woman there said it could be 45 business days before they are released. Both USPS tracking and 17track.net both say they are in transit in US Customs. They couldn't be lying about this, could they? US Customs is a government agency. My stepson says it's a scam. Don't have any way to my money back. Just have to wait and see.

Customs wouldn't be lying about having the items, but they could be holding them for a reason, like if they are counterfeit or something.

or they could be something other than air conditioners. I bought something and de3manded my money back when it did not come., turns out they then shipped a cheap chinese coin instead of the chair I ordered. I don't buy things off facebook anymore. I got my money back through paypal, but it really did not happen until I notified the federal government. Then the site was taken down and I was refunded my money. I keep seeing ads for cheap things on facebook from the same person under different names. I just check the contact email and it is always the same. Facebook used to take down the same ads, but now they just ignore me because they probably like the money.

Turns out it was a scam. I called USPS after being told my package was given to an agent in Middletown, OH. I was told with that tracking number it would be a small package less than 4 pounds,and a wrong address. He said someone was trying to scam me. I reported it. Hope to get my money back. So disappointing!

Sorry to hear that you got scammed. I never buy or order anything off of Facebook. As they say, if it seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t.

You are probably protected if you used a credit card and report it right away.

I used my pay card that is a debit card. We will see. I wrote them a letter about what happened. They have given me my money back before. I don't remember the circumstances though.

yeah another delaying tactic. If it is less than 4 pounds, well you know.
I used pay pal in my dog's name because I did not want them to know anything more about me like credi card or bank number.
I have a bank account just set up that is usually empty. and a second paypal. I transfer money into the second account and then pay off the dog so there will be money to pay for other things. I know this sounds crazy, but I used to do Ebay and I was always nervous about fraud since I did not know these people. I know, sometimes I am crazy.

Yes, smart. I remembered why I got my money back before. Will probably not happen this time. They claimed I ordered something I had never heard of. It was one of those ongoing subscription things. I disputed it and they stopped the whole thing. This was through Paypal. Wish I had paid for the a/c's through paypal.

I worked in Finance. Usually, getting money back from fraud paid via Debit cards is harder than if you use a credit card. So, I always use a credit card when buying anything online.

I actually have the best chance of getting money back from American express, but a lot of people won't take it because of higher fees. So that is why I still have paypal even though the banks are trying to get me to use Venmo.
the truth is I use a hardwired desktop to pay bills or buy things on line. I only take temp data when I bank or purchase. But there must be some traces left because I get targeted ads. I drive so I don't use uber. If I have to, I call a taxi, we are urban here, there are still taxis. I have no credit cards on my phone. I realize that someday I have to change.

Paypal is the best! They already got me my refund on the bras I never received. Wish I had used them for the air conditioners. Next time.

I disputed the charges for the air conditioners. Also disputed the shipping charges for the a/c I supposedly "won" and the subsequent charges for something I did not order. So far the money network that provides my pay/debit card has reimbursed me. Yay!

Yeah, got my new card and the paperwork to dispute the transactions. Still had to write letters. It was the only way to explain what happened. I have two air conditioners. The situation is not desperate yet. Just would've been nice. I thought my son needed one, too, but he says he's good.
