Oh me. Another great soldier, leader, and man gone. My ex and I were part of a group that once met to see if and how we could get him to run for President. Of course he obviously refused but I always thought he would have made a great candidate and potential President. As I recall he was very much concerned about his wife’s past mental health issues and didn’t want her exposed in the media. RIP sir.

Well being 84 is a bit of an underlying condition itself. Unfortunately, being vaccinated doesn’t guarantee complete safety.
Sad news though. He did his best to serve his country well.

Yes, he had a form of myeloma, blood cancer, so he was immunocompromised. It's quite possible that contributed to his death, or that the vaccine wasn't as effective for him.

His Tweet (which they put in Instagram) says
"The old saying is "old soldiers never die" - sadly they do. Colin Powell led with honor, a man of integrity and a calming force in a world too often chaotic. Like all of us, he was not perfect. But he loved his country and gave it his all. May his example guide us forward."
Very sad that COVID got him.
If you are immunocompromised (and with a blood disorder/cancer/treatment AND elevated age, those are both factors. Even if he had antibodies from his COVID doses, that is just one part of the immune system..
I see per Associated Press he had Multiple Myeloma and had been treated for this uncurable condition.

So, as the article points out, vaccines could be less effective for a person in that situation.
I have driven several people who had multiple myeloma and it isn't good, for sure.
