Oh, Seamonkey. I could not live with that noise. Nothing like that around here. Obviously it doesn't take a whole lot to make me unhappy. One hot summer a few years ago I had a dog problem -- not mine. I'm in a condo. The guy below me has / had a dog. Summer -- my and his windows were open. In the middle of the night the dog would bark. Woke me up a number of times. I said something to a condo board member I know more than others. No more dog WOOF during the night.

I live a couple blocks from an Islamic temple. Every once in a great while they must press the wrong button and their prayers (?) go on a speaker all over a BIG area. That can go on and on and on. Call 911.

I haven't heard a LOUD car in the past few days. I bet I would have if I hadn't . . . .

For our county, you HAVE to call 911 to even get the sheriff's department. I've been sooooo tempted to call this summer. Four out of 5 nights since school got out (and sometimes in the middle of the day) we have neighbors on both sides that do target shooting. I am SOOOO sick of hearing gunshots every damn night! I live in the country because I like the quiet (and we're smack dab in the middle of 40 acres on a dirt road...I mean QUIET!). I've not called, though, because I'm sure I'd be told that unless they're shooting at people or one of the animals on my property, they can do whatever the hell they want. Every day I want to move to Scotland more!

Color, I couldn't either! Eventually,C the son of a renter in the complex of 14 homes, gave our gate code to gang members.. His mother told us in a meeting that no, her son was not in a gang and we had to do something. Gang guys had decided our little complex was safe for them and would park in the fire lane. We had to hire a guard and a towing service, but the towing service quit when knives were pulled.

By then our complex was mostly Latino but the majority did not want the gang guys there at all.

People were trying to sell and upside down on loans. My Romanian friends ended up walking away from their condo and put their money down on a house in Fountain Valley.

A Vietnamese renter heard about them leaving and that I was thinking about it, said "time to go".

I couldn't walk away, as I had paid off my loan. But I found my condo in Fountain Valley (luckily it was when prices were bottomed out) and bought and moved. It took 9 months for my first condo to sell. 9 months of double insurances, gas, electric, association dues, property tax.. Was so happy when it sold!

I have been here over 20 years and nothing is perfect but I had to get out.

I would not be happy with broadcasted calls to prayer either!

And gunshots!

That logic.. Gunshots often enough kill or hurt unintended victims!

Always a worry, any known negatives about a property can make it difficult if not impossible to sell.

Julieboo, get CBS all access. You get the bb feeds and you can watch all their shows in real time.

I have the CBS app on my Roku, so I can watch it on my tv.

Julieboo, it could be a while -- or not.

Link

You know specifically where I live in Lombard -- by Eastgate and Jackson JH. App. three weeks ago a private concern (working for a utility?) was digging and CUT AT&T cables. It was/is BAD. Resulted in loss of AT&T services in certain places and scattered throughout the area. I was without my true land line (not VOIP) for about a week. Those that have DirecTV and U-verse TV are still without service. At least one person in this condo building gave up on waiting and switched to Comcast on Friday. If you could see Westmore along here, AT&T is working for blocks to get it fixed. I do have my land line again. I lost my U-verse internet connection for a few hours one afternoon. If you ask AT&T customer service about what happened and when it will be fixed -- you get nothing. AT&T (and Comcast) is and has always been bad.

I don't have any cable or satellite service. Networks and other digital stations I get OTA from rooftop antenna. I stream (pay for) non-network channels. Even though I get CBS OTA, I stream CBS All Access.

I refuse to be blackmailed into CBS All Access, or at least in the summer, lol. If they'd done this when all the new shows are on I might have been tempted.

I've found some missed shows on youtube or dailymotion, haven't tried to find BB yet but will. Colbert I have to miss. I blame CBS as I think they do just want to get money from All Access.

I think you can sign up for a free trial still? Then cancel when it gets sorted out?

Yeah, you can get a 7 day free trial.

The message on the DirecTV screen recommends Locast.org which streams your local channels, but of course then you have to watch live, which isn't always/often possible.

Oh, looks like Big Brother, The Code and Blood & Treasure are on CBS' free list, so that mostly sorts me out. I'm too tired to watch Colbert anyway, and Bold and Beautiful is easy to find on youtube.

For anyone else, they also have free: Instinct, Love Island, Elementary.

"AT&T (and Comcast) is and has always been bad."

I meant to say that AT&T and Comcast customer service is and has always been bad. AT&T tech service has always been good.

I watch a lot of the CBS shows on CBS.com all year long, very rarely watch actual television on a television. If you can get to them within about 5 weeks of airing, all of the current shows are free, and then they go to subscription.

QUESTION: I love my app. 13 year old Maytag fridge. It has freezer drawer on the bottom. When I opened the drawer this morning, the right half of the drawer was full of frost?! Everything in the drawer is frozen. Fridge is cold. What? Any ideas?

The door may not have been shut all the way. Just a crack open. Happened to me.

Has happened to me too. Never had the frost problem before. Only on one side seems peculiar. Hope that's all it is / was.

Yes, maybe that's what it was. Since having found drawer not quite closed before, I try to be very conscious when I close it that it is TIGHT.

LOL, Color I have had that happen a couple of times, and occasionally I will open the drawer and it seems we have a fog bank occurring. After one of these events I always make sure to reclose the door..

It is so weird when it happens and there doesn't ever seem to be an explanation.

Dipo, thanks. Makes me feel better about it. I threw out a few things that have been in there for a looong time. Then grocery shopped. Few new things to go in freezer. Planning on all being OK.

When I got home and was pulling into my parking spot in the condo garage, scraped my car on pillar. Not bad. Estimate $575. Oh well.

Not the best morning. Could be worse.

Our DirecTV hasn't had NBC for almost a month now. We aren't watching any NBC programs, so it's not a big deal - it's just reinforcing our plan to turn off the satellite and do all streaming the middle of this month when our next bill is due.

What stops people from getting a rooftop antenna today? Earlier in my lifetime that's all there was. Hasn't been that many years ago. Get an antenna and stream non-network "channels".

Our Direct TV hasn't had Fox for about a month so been missing Masterchef, if I tried to record it would say having problem with Nexstar, a couple days ago I went to Fox on demand and found I could actually watch it from the on demand Fox channel. Maybe you could check your on demand channels and see if they will work

Colord, I can't speak for others, but where I live, a rooftop antenna gets nothing.

In addition, most channels are only available in HD these days, so you do have to get an HD antenna, and from what I've heard, your reception depends on where you live and is highly susceptible to weather.
