I bought a small Canon Printer last year for about $120. It's WIFI and awesome! I can print stuff from my iphone and ipad too. I've even printed pictures on it. Never thought I would do that. Best $120 I spent for a computer product.

There there, Grooch. You are really, really smart. You will figure this out. You even figured out the push the button thingie on the router, which was an epiphany to me about 6-7 years ago, something I had known for many years prior but forgot. Let me see if I can get ahead of folks on the printer. I am quite sure I figured this out by total accident, like actually reading the product information on the box of the new wireless router I bought. When Windows did away with HomeGroup, I could no longer print from any computer that was not hard-wired to the printer that is NOT wireless, and I was just going to buy a new wireless printer. But then I read this blurb on the new router box, and it looked like I could just plug the printer into the wireless router with a USB cable and print remotely. So I downloaded something like Netgear USB Control Center into each computer, plugged the printer (and the scanner) into the Netgear router, downloaded the printer (and scanner) softwear into each computer, opened the new Netgear software on each computer, made the obvious selections, and voila!!! It just works. I was so happy I almost cried. LOL (I have been very emotional since Nov. 9, 2016.)

Ok. I finally got around to resetting my password. Only because I need to use it. I finally achieved my goal, but my new problem is that I can't get it to synch. Anybody have any clues? Thanks.

Don't ask me how I did it, but I finally fixed it. I hate computer tech stuff. Grumble, grumble.

I love it. Sometimes I'll wipe out everything on my computers and devices just to start over. After installing system tools right away, everything else I install as I need it. And it's funny because I end up re-installing only a fraction of everything, because so many things I used once or twice and never needed again.

Do you find that reinstall significantly speeds up your computer?

Sometimes. But usually if I find it slowing down, I try to find what's doing it, then and there, and fix it.

It drives me crazy. I’ll get a new computer and it’s lightning fast and a year later it’s slow. And it’s hard to identify the problem. I usually suspect the anti-virus as the first culprit. What do you use for your anti-virus?

I use Norton Security Suite. I don't install all the little extras they try to suggest to you. I've use Norton since 2002, with a few breaks just to test other products. I always went back to Norton. It's been free with comcast internet for well over a decade now.

BTW, anytime my pc slows down now, it is 100% of the time windows updates doing something in the background.

No, I don't know, Grooch. I could probably come up and do it FOR you without having the slightest idea what I am doing and get it to work. But afterwards I often cannot tell somebody for sure just what I have done. I do Google a lot and adhere pretty strictly to Occam's Razor when deciding which fixes to try.

Does anyone have any thoughts (good or bad) regarding an All-in-One Computer. I am thinking of upgrading (have a tower now) and was wondering about an All-in-One. Thanks!

I don't have one, Mysticlady, but I suspect they are just fine, as they have been around for quite a while now. I would not hesitate to get one after reading reviews of the various models, of course.

I had one many many years ago -- before laptops. Isn't a laptop an all-in-one?

A couple of days ago, my computer's battery said it was at 4%, plugged in, not charging. I googled it, did some of the fix suggestions. It worked somewhat. It now is stuck at 87%, plugged in, not charging. Did all the "fix" suggestions. Still doing the same thing. Two years ago, I replaced the battery. The A/C power adapter cord was replaced in August. I just ordered another one for $9 it's a cheap fix. It won't be here for another 4 days. Any suggestions for what's next?

I have no idea what a all in one is, but my computer was lost to me about 5 months ago...my disc space was nothing..so all I could do was check email and thats it. I was still 'windows 7' I like a desktop, its just me. I still even have a flip phone. I just dont want to carry a computer 'in my pocket' everywhere I go. I like to sit here in the evening' and the 'Morning' to sift thew the internet and then leave it ... during the day' I just want to be free...lol But all my junk, monitor, keyboard, speakers were fine, so I just bought a tower. Its a HP 'widows 10, HP Pavilion, Im not sure but its been a joy to have it.. Everything works, and at the end of the day or the morning coffee' Its right here and I love to sit here and catch up.... good luck looking for a new 'what ever you should decide'.

Thanks - I am running Windows 7 on my computer with tower. My current system is about 9 years old. An All-in-One has everything built in the monitor - no tower. I am still researching. I've always owned Dell Computers so I will probably end up with another Dell.

I've had a laptop since February '10. I got a laptop (15" screen) because it is everything-in-one. I very very very rarely take it any place. It's easy to take in when something needs fixin'.

Okay, so I got a brand new A/C adapter. Took everything apart and redid everything, plugged in the new adapter, and the computer still says 86% available, plugged in, not charging. So now do I need a new battery? The one in the computer is only two years old.

Get a good extended warranty for an all in one .. The most expensive component is often the screen or monitor. I had a very good Dell monitor that outlasted a string of towers, keyboards, mice.. I had to replace that last year. With an all in one, or a laptop, if the display dies and you don't have a warranty that covers the display, you have to replace. (With a laptop you might be able to use it with a monitor, but then you are anchored it that spot). I do have a desktop, but 90% of the time In am on my Kindle Fire and my Samsung tablet. My smartphone is not at the level where it is a go to device. It handles calling and texting well, but for anything else I prefer a 10" screen.

It's not losing power over time? That seems weird to me. If it's not charging, the power should be going down... I found a similar question with the same odd 86% charged... maybe you can try their instructions to diagnose if you have a power problem? https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-performance/battery-stops-charging-at-86-percent-therfore/b7ac42e5-07e3-426e-bfb7-3933ba95ec1f

Thanks, Seamonkey. I am still undecided about getting a new tower or an all-in-one with Dell. There are so many options, it's confusing. My monitor is only a few years old so I might just go with a new tower and pray I can figure out Windows 10... LOL
