A bunch. Maybe not universal but had good reviews. The English Patient, The Shining, Polar Express.

I'm enjoying all of the answers.

Mimi, you cracked me up with The English Patient. Lots of people answered that on Twitter. They kept posting gif's of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine kept screaming about how awful it was. Lol! I liked it.

I'll add A Streetcar Named Desire for the fact that I had no idea about what Stanley did to Blanche. I only saw it a few years ago. Over the years I always saw clips and knew the famous lines, but never knew what he did. I was floored.

My dislike of La La Land is boundless. I love me a musical but that movie bites. Neither lead could sing or dance. Talk about an undeserved Best Actress Oscar.

I think The Godfather is dull beyond measure. I'm pretty sure I have finally seen the entire movie.

Wargod, those flying monkeys terrified me as well. I would hide in the other room. My aunt (only 2 years older than I am) would call me to come back when the monkeys were gone. She lied! Scary monkeys everywhere.

I think of a couple of scifi ones, but I don't know how universally loved they were outside scifi of fans (which I usually am).

Deadpool was just violent and not funny. Gravity was slow and boring.

Rieann I agree about Street Car Named Desire. Another I don't understand the praise is Rebel Without A Cause. The overacting is incredible.

I thought Deadpool was pretty funny, clever and different from the usual superhero type movie but I can see why it wouldn’t appeal to everyone.

Gravity was too predictable and the Sandra Bullock character was annoying.

I’ve fortuitously missed seeing The English Patient and La La Land.

ITA w/ Kitt, I found Deadpool extremely juvenile and particularly offensive. (Sorry Jimmer!)
I do agree with you Jimmer about gravity it was extremely boring, and in my opinion forgettable.

Oh my there are so many popular films that I do not like. Just looking at the 2018 Oscars I hated Ladybird, Dunkirk and The Post.

I laughed at Jimmer's and Mame's critiques of Deadpool.

That movie packs a wallop. Offensive and clever.

I watched Deadpool for the first time 2 days ago. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Ive been accused of having a very juvenile sense of humor, as well as a couple other descriptors.

I also took the time to look at the deeper side, or what could be considered the deeper side 1) the idea that for illnesses, treatment rarely come without a cost/side effect one might not realize up front, 2) what's the best choice about sharing or not sharing everything concerning a medical situation, and 3) beauty or ugliness can be different for everyone.

I realize the movie presented these as extremes, however in real life the more subtle of these questions can be tough to answer or figure out and trusting the other people involved is key.

I think anyone who likes Caddyshack will like Deadpool---or at least the humor part of it

Yes, agreed---it's just the humor portion I was comparing to Caddyshack.

LOL, I do, I get it free from two different credit cards. But I was in the banking industry for years so I have known it forever.
