Bbpeach, I don't see a way to extend recordings. So I have the Chiefs games set to record every week, but will it record the whole game if they go over?

I don’t know. I’ve never recorded sports so I don’t even know how you record a specific team playing. I assume it is different programs all the time?

Yes, I can record a specific team just fine. But games never end on time. There doesn't seem to be a way to extend the recording. Like on my Xfinity box, I choose to record the games with an extra 90 minutes. But I don't seem to have the choice to extend the recordings for youtubetv. I'll see what happens when it records the Chiefs game today.

Out of curiosity I googled that question and it says that for major things like nfl games it will cover the extra length. It is “smart enough” to adjust the length. For more minor live events it may not. So I guess it should give you the whole game!

There are times when I just also choose to record the program that is on right after the program that I'm recording, since I can't figure out any other way to be sure.

I think the biggest difference in both mindset and technology is how it handles recordings. Cable, at least when I had it, was much more set on recording a program on channel XYZ at 12:00 until 3:00. If it started/ended late, too bad. It started at 12:00 and ended at 3:00 no matter what. Whereas YouTubeTV focuses on the program wherever/whenever it airs. I know I wondered about that during Big Brother when things were running late, but I don’t remember it being a problem. Of course being on the west coast it doesn’t happen often like on the east coast.

Xfinity just came to my door. He said they can get me a deal if I stay with them when I move. I explained to guy how they deleted my grandfathered in account, and when they restored the account they wouldn't give me everything I had back for the same price so I had to cut the phone and the premium channels until I totally cancel when I move. He said if he could get all the stuff back at a better price, would I stay with them when I move. I said yes. So the guy said he is going to work on it and call me back.

It’s officially over…..after 27 years I no longer have DirecTV. As I expected my DirecTV totally turned off this morning. I suspect they pulled the plug so to speak at midnight so now all I get is a black screen. They said the equipment I have is basically obsolete so no need to return it to them. Probably won’t take long but I need to unplug the boxes and recycle them. We are getting used to Spectrum TV. I’m still not thrilled with their TV guide but saving $200 a month makes it worthwhile. Certainly no issues with the picture quality or sound. Short of a power failure or system outage we won’t have service interruptions like when a thunder storm or heavy rain would knock out the DirecTV satellite feed.

They still haven't haven't gotten my legacy account back with Xfinity. They wanted to go ahead and get the account ready to switch over to the the new house while they work on it. I said NO WAY. I said won't have it switched over the way it is. I told them they have until Friday or I am canceling. I said it in a a nice way. So I'll know Friday if I'm staying with cable or switching to GFiber and YoutubeTV.

Well, I did it. I cut the cable cord. I cancelled my Xfinity account, and starting Friday at the new house I'll have Gfiber and YoutubeTV. I'm aggravated at that guy who promised to get my Xfinity legacy account back. It made me delay signing up for Gfiber, and now I'll have 3 days without internet, and only antenna tv at the new house.

We went through our first storm since we switched from DirecTV to Spectrum TV and didn’t have the TV picture drop out. Satellite TV is great as long as there aren’t electrical storms or very heavily rain. Now with the TV service being supplied via the Internet that’s not an issue. We have also noticed streaming apps like Netflix are smoother and better color and sound. That’s because we concurrently dropped AT&T DSL at 50 Mbps and switched to Spectrum’s hybrid fiber at 1Gbps. That’s like 20 times faster. Technically we still have cable but not actually cable TV as all our TVs now get their TV wirelessly off the Internet and aren’t connected via coax to the wall. The other nice thing about the chance is if we don’t like Spectrum TV we can keep their Internet and switch to another TV streaming service like YouTube, etc. Spectrum has no contracts or commitment requirements.

Naja, you're gonna be to busy those first 3 days to even think about TV. You can always put the radio on and listen to NPR. I had to do that for a few days when I had a cable line problem they couldn't fix right away. And you can always watch YouTube on your phone.

Mack, we have Spectrum television and internet down here in South Padre in our rented condo, and have nothing at all negative to say about it.

At this point we are more than pleased with Spectrum. Mrs Mack is particularly pleased we get Disney+ as an included no charge app which includes Hulu and ESPN+. The show offerings are numerous and she can now watch programs she’s been wanting to see but didn’t want to pay $20/month for. Winter even here is the perfect time to hunker down for binge watching.
