Dipo, yes you can, if you created an account. I think. It sure makes sense. Just go to gmail.com and try it. Should work. I bet I have at least 20, if not 50 e-mail accounts.

Does anyone else use Firefox? I just came back from an appointment and logged onto my computer...tried to view something that uses Adobe Flash and it keeps crashing. I was ready to uninstall then reinstall Firefox, but decided to reset it instead...nothing. I was even going to uninstall Flash hoping that would help, but I decided to open MS Edge to see whether Flash worked there...it does I found a couple things on google about fixing the problem, but I've tried several of them and nothing is helping. I could follow one video's advice and create a new file in the Flash folder, but I'm kind of in no mood to do that. Anybody have any advice? I hate hare hate MS Edge so I guess if worst comes to worst I'll just switch over to Chrome or something. Why not? Google probably has reams of data about me already, so what's a little more?

I use Firefox... with no issues with Flash. Are you up to date with the recent Firefox and Flash updates? Have you tried this? It is what I would do first. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/adobe-flash-plugin-has-crashed

Kooklie, I did read that. But when I couldn't do the first couple--the download didn't work and I couldn't do the acceleration thing--I gave up. So I just went back and unchecked the box (it's the third one, naturally) and that worked. Phew. Thank you (I literally watched a video about creating a new file in my flash folder and I just don't trust myself to do stuff like that. I'd rather switch browsers than screw up firefox on my own)

Hahahaha, and I am suddenly having a similar problem with Chrome. It is continually dropping signals, freezing up, unable to open pages, won't open a weather website I use ALL the time that operates on some unknown to me plug-in. NONE of this happens on Internet Explorer, which I have also never been particularly fond of, but I also refuse to use Edge. WAY too Big-Brotherish for me. And I went to Chrome when Firefox started screwing up so badly years ago. What's a body to do? Beats me at the moment. I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome a couple times yesterday and also did system restore to 2 weeks ago. Problems have returned. I guess there's Opera, haven't tried it lately.

Excel Q: I am working on a project where I have created a spreadsheet to track my findings, and just set it up to print. Now I find that my 25 page document says it is 1 of 24,000. I don't even know how this happened, any ideas on how to get rid of the extra pages? I suppose I could set the print area but I hate doing that when the document shouldn't have this many pages. TIA.

Holy crap, I figured it out. Thanks for helping me! By posting my question here my brain remembered that I had shaded a few cells and something weird had happened. I thought I had deleted it but apparently I only dealt with the part that showed on screen. Once I deleted the fill on a row that went to eternity, it became a normal document again. LOL Yeah.

A friend got an e-mail from me that I didn't send. Does that necessarily mean I've got something in my computer or could she have something in hers that makes an e-mail look like it's from me but isn't? Maybe my computer isn't part of the problem?

Unless you have a bunch of friends getting them, I wouldn't worry too much. Rosie's advice is a good precaution.

To start with -- I'm not techie. No, other friends aren't getting e-mails from me that aren't from me. Talked to my friend this morning that did. She's not too concerned. I called AppleCare. Checked things on here. All is OK. Not worried about it for now.

I am battling a baffling SupportScam popup virus called JS/Techbrolo.aa that pops up a fake error message saying my computer has been blocked and to call a telephone number. Malwarebytes does not detect it. Windows Defender detected it ONCE, but did not detect it when it returned. TrendMicro Housecall online scanner did not detect. I thought it was confined to Chrome browser, but JUST now while typing this I got a weird thing. If anybody has successfully removed it from their PC, let me know. Tonight I downloaded Spybot Search and Destroy and have been allegedly updating it the for past ten minutes. I am guessing the virus has it blocked. I uninstalled Chrome to see if it was confined to Chrome. Any suggestions?

If you have backups you could always reformat the hard drive but reinstalling a lot of stuff could be a real chore. I guess it's something to consider as a last resort. How do you know the name of it? If that's what it is, according to Microsoft, Windows Defender should remove it. https://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/threat/encyclopedia/ Entry.aspx?Name=SupportScam:JS/TechBrolo.AA

I had a similar experience. A warning popped up with a phone number. I immediately brought up Task Manager and shut down Explorer, then ran the full Defender scan. It detected something and removed it. Don't know what it was called - sorry. I've heard that delay or calling the number can activate the virus.

How do you get a virus from Twitter? Is it just from reading it? Or do you get it by clicking a link on the twitter page?

I've never heard of anyone getting a virus directly from Twitter. You have to click on a link within a tweet.

I know the name of the virus because Windows Defender DID find it and deleted it once, and I wrote it down just in case. After that, I restarted my computer, set a new Restore Point, and deleted old Restore Points, so the virus would not return through System Restore. I thought I was fine, and then it came back!! Every time it has appeared, I have always exited via Task Manager to shut down Chrome. The odd thing is that when it came back, NONE of the anti-virus scans I have run, including Windows Defender, TrendMicro Housecall online scan, and now Spybot Search and Destroy are finding a virus. I guess I will go reinstall Chrome and see what happens. I am not getting the popup at all on Internet Explorer. And while reading and researching all of this mess, Edge browser, which I have never used because IT popped up a Support Scam fake ad the first time I ever opened it, recommended itself to me as a better browser because it supposedly has online protection against the Support Scam pop-ups. Interesting. I suppose if Chrome goes wonky again, I will try Edge. You would think that as common as this Trojan/virus is, someone else would have experienced the same thing I am experiencing, doesn't show up on virus scans but keeps re-occurring. But I am not finding similar complaits when I Google. Grooch, yes, clicking links from Twitter is what I surmise. Got some bad Russian hombres hanging out hating on the libtards.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome, and have not gotten any re-occurrences of the bogus popup on Chrome. On the other hand, AFTER I ran several anti-virus scans from various sources, while I hazd Chrome uninstalled, I have received multiple instances of needing to recover webpages on IE. The jury is still out.

Virus came back this morning. Downloaded and ran free Zemana anti-malware. It found and killed Trojan:Win32/Kovter.B!neng. Made a new Restore Point, deleted old restore points, since they were during periods when computer acting badly. Jury still out. I did find a computer geek website where somebody had asked about eliminating the Kovter trojan, and the geek replying went on for about twenty very complicated steps for getting rid of the trojan. Download and run this and that. Zemana was step one. At least it bought me some time. The jury is still out.

Well, that was short-lived euphoria. The mouse started going wonky today, so I suspected something was about to happen, and sure enough, about six hours later the Support Scam popup reappeared. I re-downloaded the Zemana anti-malware that found the Trojan yesterday, and today it found nothing. Also downloaded second anti-malware on geek guy's list, also nothing found. Full scan with Windows defender, nothing. This is quite baffling. Those Russkie bad hombres are good!! It is probably going to be easier to reinstall the operating system than doing scans and posting logs to a geek website. I think Naja said some archives back that there is a way to do a re-installation on Windows 10 while preserving the programs that are already installed on the machine? Specifically, this machine came with Office 2016 Professional, and I sure do want to save that. So, question - if I reinstall, will that get rid of whatever infestation I have? Seems like I have read horror stories of people reinstalling OS and the virus was still there. Backing up 32,000 photos now. After that, who knows how many documents, but those will go a lot faster, LOL.
