But Abby is it really a needed product, LOL. That is what I am trying to figure out. So many things that come out end up being unnecessary.
I also hear that if you have a metal wallet it does the same thing.

They block the RFID signal that you use if your credit card is one of those ones you can wave at the payment thingy to buy stuff, instead of actually swiping it or inserting the chip. But the data should be encrypted so whether you actually need one is open for debate. I'd say no, but without it the risk of bring skimmed is there.

Dipo, as a retired consumer protection specialist (among other job descriptions and collateral duties), my opinion is this was once a pretty real threat that may or may not soon be adequately addressed by developing technology. I just read the other day that keyless entry to cars is now a threat, and I got to worrying about my own two keyless cars.
I probably wouldn't recommend it as a gift, because by the time the giftee got around to figuring out what it even IS, there will be a cure for the problem.

Juju. I read that about the keyless remotes.. I have them too.
I also read that wrapping them up in foil can foil those trying to get the code. I did wrap up my second remote, sitting in a drawer, but it was a pita to do that with my active remote.. But it IS a concern.

I never use the remote function of my smart key, but it has to be quite nearby when I open or lock the door with a touch. Mine is a 2015.

New Q: I found all my old glasses, and I can't donate them because they are progressive lenses, and I was thinking I wonder if I can sell the frames.
Has anyone heard of a site for designer frames? I have Tiffany, Dior, Gucci....yes I am a bad frame buyer. For some reason I always end up with expensive frames, trying to change that now, LOL.
But I have 6 different designer frames that are in good shape so I am thinking maybe I could sell them somewhere.

I was going to take my old glasses to be donated this morning at my eye appointment but didn't have time to get them all together. They are progressive lenses. I have never heard such a thing so will call and ask I guess. Surely there are people who need progressive lenses as well.

Where I worked, we had donation to the Elks or Lions and they said no progressives. I thought it was because they give the glasses as is to people who have a similar prescription.
Now that everyone else thinks you can I am going to have to online and see if this is not true, LOL.

Ok, my research does show that progressives are not really wanted....ยป Only 7% of donated glasses are actually usable (many are discarded because of scratches, broken frames, progressive lenses, high astigmatism etc.)
So I move forward on my search to get rid of my good shape frames, LOL.

Ah, I really wasn't sure. Our eye doctor just has a box sitting on a table with a note that you can donate your old glasses. We've dropped off plenty of them over the years.

We've always donated glasses. I was hoping they were reusing the frames and making lenses for the needy! how could anyone use someone elses prescription? I'm surprised even 7% are reusable!

They just see which prescription comes closest.. Mine are I guess progressive.. or trifocals that are blended.
I think it is the Lions? who are interested in vision. They also help people without insurance get cataract surgery. One of my patients had a friend who is a drummer and they paid for one cataract surgery and then really surprised him by paying for the other eye. Really helped him in getting to gigs and also in scheduling them.
But there could be groups who would use some frames ..

I swear it is just too much trouble to try and sell stuff on Ebay, which apparently has a lot of eyeglass frames and cases, who knew, LOL.
I just wish I could find someone who I could sell a "lot" of stuff that they could take away and sell on Ebay or wherever. I have a bunch of odd and little things that are just too much work for me, it annoys me so much.
It's the one thing I don't know how to find, someone to pay me for my stuff and take it away.

There used to be ebay resellers, but I don't think they were able to make much money. It's hard to make it worthwhile to sell on ebay. My friend and I figure if it doesn't sell for at least $10 you aren't making any money by the time you factor in your labor and packing materials. I joke that I make about fifty cents an hour selling on ebay.

If you're on Facebook, you can search for an online garage sale page near you. You can advertise on there for someone to buy your miscellaneous stuff. A lot of people will buy a "lot" for x dollars and then they use the stuff in their garage sale. Obviously you won't get top dollar that way but maybe a few bucks and get rid of your clutter at the same time.
