NEW YORK (AP) — Cassandra Wilson, the two-time Grammy Award-winning jazz singer, songwriter and producer has died. She was 70.
Dubbed America’s best singer by Time magazine in 2001, Wilson was best known for her genre-bending voice, which expanded the boundaries of traditional blues-based jazz and worked effortlessly across folk, pop, R&B, country and beyond. At the heart of all her work was her idiosyncratic contralto, a soulful sound distinctly tied to her roots.

Gloria Steinem, trailblazing journalist and activist, dies at 92

Rest in peace costume designer Bob Mackie (1939-2026), who created probably the most famous costume ever to appear in a TV comedy. The costume sent-up Scarlet O'Hara making a dress from curtains in "Gone With The Wind."

I know this my sound odd, but I have known of him and his work since I was a little girl because Carol Burnett used to thank him all the time on her TV show in the early 70s. I specifically remember his hilarious green curtain rod dress that Carol wore in the Gone with the Wind skit. Legendary!

I have met him twice. He signed a couple of my Barbies that he designed. I saw him 2 yrs ago with Carol Burnett in Newport Beach for the premiere of his documentary. We went to their Q/A. Such a charming, kind, sweet man. Very personable and it was such a joy talking to him while he signed my Barbies.

As we were leaving an older gent stopped him saying “young man, i like your style”
