CBS broke into The Road to report Rob and wife found dead. No mention of the son.
That would make it more tragic than it already is.

The son, Nick, has a long history of addiction and mental illness.
This only goes to show that even if you have all the funds necessary, our ability to handle severe mental illness is severely lacking.
I see this all the time locally, working with parents of kids who live on the street, who self medicate their illness with street drugs. They try so hard to do the right things, but sometimes that old tired "tough love" advice backfires... tragically.

The only time I watched General Hospital was when I was home with viral pneumonia. I was basically bedridden for three weeks and we only had three or four channels with an antenna on the roof. Got kind of hooked laying on the couch but had to go back to work and school so I don’t think I ever saw more than three or four more episodes. That was way way before any kind of video recorders so if you missed it you missed it. 🙂

Both deaths are tough for different reasons. Rob Reiner would be an icon even if he only made the five movies from 1986-1992 (Stand With Me, Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery, A Few Good Men) - his acting, other movies, and influence were just icing on the cake ….and his death along with his wife is just a senseless tragedy that is devastating for everyone close to them - and close to their son.
Tony Geary was a mainstay in soap opera lore. I was a devoted ABC fan after a Friday cliffhanger got me hooked on One Life to Live and another Friday cliffhanger got me watching GH (shootout with Anna so it was a few years after “the wedding’) … but I eventually recorded it every day on my vcr to watch after school and i scheduled college classes so i could be free from 2-4 every day. Luke was essential to GH and I loved every time he came back after a hiatus. Didn’t expect him to die but that’s because of how great he was an actor. And I felt Tony Geary was the kind of human that he portrayed as Luke.

I never watched soaps after we left Michigan. Back when soaps were 15 minutes, there were 4 my mom watched at lunchtime. We would see them in summer and on the occasional days when we walked home for much from school. With 15 minute shows, each day you got flashback, new footage and preview, and commercials, so the plots didn't move quickly and it was easy to catch up.
From reports last night, the Friend's son had been living with them recently. They attended a party that night, where the son was making people feel uncomfortable and mom and dad were upset about that..
The over the top claims and use of deaths is especially disturbing.
OG, I have had a rough year, but I am home. Things continue to be unsettled. But I am happy to see you posting.

One of my favorite memories of my Grandma is her blurting out, “well, Luke came down from the mountain” at a family get together. I was the only one that made the GH connection.
