Sulfates strip away natural oils. My hair shines now that I use sulfate free shampoo. It doesn't take long to notice a difference. (a couple weeks)

I always had too much natural oil.. my mom told me I would appreciate it later and she was right. Anyway that is not my problem but just that I seemed suddenly to have not as many individual hairs (I cannot see it but my hairdresser gets super involved due to the number of foils required). And since I had lost 40 pounds in a relatively short time, that was the suspected culprit. Ruling out thyroid as an issue, my doctor suggested biotin and primrose oil.

Looked at those two articles. I have no bleeding problems. I have been taking extra vitamin D per my doc for 2+ years for bones. Iron . . . well, maybe. I have been taking multivitamin which includes iron every day for about 40 years. I take vitamin with tea. Medical person said tea kinda negates iron absorption. So I tried taking vitamins with something else. Oh no! Won't go into how that messed me up here. Taking vitamins with tea again. But I had been taking vitamins with tea for many years without hair loss problem. I don't see my doc until January, but will try to remember to ask him about it then.

Back.. I am at the SOCAL Film Festival.. feature film and cast and director interviews between posts and I won one of the 3 raffle prizes. I think my hair is reacting to the weight loss. Hairdresser says maybe going too low fat, but I am thinking too little protein....

I consume plenty of a good fat -- olive oil. I LOVE OLIVE OIL! Enough so it's helped raise my HDL. My BMI is just under being underweight. This is me. Don't want to weigh less, but don't want to weigh more either. I don't know, but maybe when I lost 25 lbs three plus years ago could be app. when hair loss started?

Home from Target. Got L'Oreal EverPure Sulfate-Free volumizing shampoo. One ingredient though -- sodium lauryl sulfoacetate. Difference between . . . .

Hope so. I'm probably in the minority -- I like what humidity does for my hair. It's just BLAH looking in this cooler dry air. BLAHer hair all winter.

It's lookin' good after first wash with the L'Oreal shampoo. I'll wash it for second time today or tomorrow. I almost can't believe that when I was working (retired 12 years ago) I'd wash my hair every day!! But then I felt the need to load it up with hairspray every day too. Ugh! Why?! I use very very little hairspray now. Now I'm swallowing the little Biotin cap every day.

I used to wash my hair every day, but it got very oily if I didn't. Now I wash it every two days or so.

I wash mine 'bout twice a week at most. Sometimes can go 5 -6 days between. Use very little hairspray. That makes a world of difference.

I had to wash my hair every day I left the house years ago.. too oily otherwise. Then blow dry, curling iron and some spray. Now I can go every other day or even skip two and IF I'm not leaving the house, I can let it go longer. NO hairspray.. I do blowdry. I upped my biotin from 5000mcg to 7500mcg. Doctor says no harm at all as it isn't retained by the body. Not sure.. think I'm still shedding hairs but time will tell.

I've been taking Biotin almost a month. Washed my hair this morning. Same amount of hair 'round the drain as usual I think. A little soon to tell if it's doing any good. I'm going to start saving hair from my last wash before going to salon every six weeks. Compare those every six weeks. If I feel it's necessary, will take the little baggies of hair with me to my annual doc appointment in January. See if he has any comments.

I upped my biotin from 5000mcg to 10,000mcg. My doctor says no harm and if it is more than needed it will pass.. doesn't accumunlate or cause harm. Also taking Primrose Oil per his suggestion. I think I'm losing at the same rate but was told that hair does shed in cycles so I guess we will see. I know I find more of mine in the car than previously. Not massive but usually in the past most of the hairs I'd remove from the passenger seat were from my passengers (those who have hair). And after my hair was blow-dried last time we did see shed hairs, not cut ones, on the seat. sigh.

For some time, when I wash my hair I catch what looks like quite a bit of hair at the drain. (I've never let it go down.) Sometimes I'm surprised there's anything left on my head. I don't think my scalp shows through too much at the part. When I'm brushing it, doesn't feel like a lot of hair and yet not next-to-nothing either.

Uh oh ... Oh! And somebody remind me, I have a very interesting hair story to tell from the long cruise I just got back from ... still traveling on to TX and will arrive there tomorrow, and I use New Messages feature, so if you remind me tomorrow, I may not actually see it but I might see it if you remind me in a couple days. And hope I remember the story, LOL, CRS, and all that rot.

I washed my hair and saved hair I lost on Nov. 3. I think it looks like less than app. six weeks ago when I started taking Biotin. Maybe? I'm going to start saving hair from first wash of every month so I can compare.
