It's Planning Day AND time to grab some general purpose cleaner and shine those counter tops and shine our bathroom sinks!
Probably do some packing and I want to bring in my bag for shredding and clean out my file cabinet and dump all the old paperwork from the Condo.
For now, back to bed with the paper, yogurt and Perry. Didn't realize I didn't post again yesterday.
I still need to restock the TP and clean up the kitchen, plus get back into my Lazyfit app. Finally I invited a friend to dinner tonight so that will be fun.

Coffee brewed, kitchen cleaned up and my list for the day is made!
First up, tho, is to get thru email and check my money. Not sure how much I will need to move and I am hoping that I can use my credit card for some things, then I get points and can pay it off next month, LOL.
Off to email.

Ordered some newsprint for packing and got a few more bins, smaller ones I can use in the kitchen. Checked on my money and sold some Amazon stock.
Next up ... clean out the file cabinet, LOL.

Cleaned out the filing cabinet, found some funny things and a bunch of stuff to recycle, a few can just be put into the recycle bin. Then I cleaned the window sill and swept the floor under the chair up to the window. It never really gets cleaned at housekeeping, they don't move furniture just sort of clean around. Also cleaned the blinds that housekeeping never dusts so when it rained and the window was still open, got a bit muddy, LOL.
Then I went through the box of stuff from the Condo Board and put all the stuff that needed to be shredded in that bin. I found a key cabinet, forgot all about it, trashed the keys and I will give to the new President, maybe she can use it. If not they can put it on the free table.
Found a couple of years worth of menus and calendars. I liked the food better in the past, and the calendar sure had a bunch more stuff to do in it. I pulled out the December 2022 list of events, there were 14 special holiday things, there were 3 in 2024.

Found a couple of years worth of menus and calendars. I liked the food better in the past

LOL, the new place isn't going to have food service, it will be up to me. I am researching possible meal delivery systems but I am also planning on having my friend here text me the menus so I can figure out what I want to make.
I think I need to be where I can control the costs, and at least with the new place I know that the rents are limited to a max 5% increase. And the starting rent is low enough that my SS payment will cover it.

The other thing that finding all that stuff was just reinforcing how much it has changed here. It used to be so fun and now it's just surviving, so amazing how they screwed it up.

It's Anti-Procrastination Day AND time to shine our tubs or showers.
I cleaned up the Kitchen, took out the trash and made some lunch. So now I need to prepare for the rainy, windy weather. Since I got the blinds clean I need to close down that window. It's the only one that the rain comes in thru. Then I will need to get stuff off the balcony - not sure how much since I can't get a handle on how much rain my area will get.
Need to check with the new apartment place about putting my application together and I need to make a Safeway order - oh I better get that done asap.
Off to Rakuten/Safeway.

Not new owners but I think the actual owners stepped away and the President is now putting into place the Misconceptions that he has for independent living communities.
The actual owners were the ones who wanted it to be "family oriented" and they are now in the 90's, so the first thing that happened was the cancellation of the annual Summer Family BBQ's.
I have said since I got here that the President doesn't have a clue, and that opinion has been supported by several other executive staff and some regular staff.
We used to be about 98% occupied and now they are lucky if they can keep it at 85% occupancy. Now the nature of things here is that people die and you get vacancy but we have more "live" people moving than people dying.
And this most recent manager has made it even worse.. Her idea of engagement is to put a "walk with the Manager" event in place every Thursday at 11am. Now I thought, that sounds great, they can walk all the floors - there used to be a walking club that did the floors every morning.
But NO, she is going to take the old people on a walk around the exterior of the building... now this wouldn't be such a bad idea except there are tons of tripping hazard, some of the "round the building" doesn't even have a sidewalk so they will have to walk in the bike lane. I was amazed when she clarified it was outside and not inside.

It's Errand Day and time to take Take 15 minutes and straighten up the laundry area.
I have eye doctor today, so that is my errand. Then I will give the new apartment a call since I haven't heard back from them. Got my packing paper so I can get started on that.
Time to go grab my coffee and get thru email.

Eye Doctor was great but for some odd reason it doesn't include an appointment to buy your glasses. That requires a separate appointment. You would think that would be mentioned when you make the appointment! So didn't get to buy any glasses. Maybe I will see how the an online purchase might cost.
It's been raining, so I shouldn't have even bothered to curl my hair, LOL. It wasn't really raining hard so I just went with my visor, then used my umbrella when I had to go from building 4 to building 1. I did get a bit wet and I just noticed my hair was a bit crazy, LOL.
So now I need to get a few chores down. The kitties don't seem to understand "door closed for rain", LOL, and since it seems to have stopped for now I went ahead and opened it up. I totally forgot about the box I had out there to keep the door from hitting the railing. And I didn't think it rained enough to really soak the cushion - I was wrong, LOL. So I flipped the cushion up so it would drain. Once that is done and hopefully it is dryer I can bring it in before the next wave of rain starts.
Off to email, checking on buying glasses and other stuff.

OH yes, Juju, I will be checking that out today. Unfortunately my prescription is such that I don't usually get a cheaper price than Kaiser. But I am going to look around. Do I need a membership to go to the Costco one? I haven't been in there in years, LOL.

It's Clean your Purse and Car Day AND As we are headed in to Cold and Flu season I want you to take 15 minutes to wipe down your door knobs, light switches and phones in your home.
I opened the balcony door, we don't have any rain for now and as I said before the kitties don't understand a closed door.
Now I am cleaning up the kitchen so I can get the dishwasher running, then I will grab the paper and some yogurt and head back to the bedroom.

Paper done, Perry watched and now I am having a bit of lunch then will figure out this mess of a house.
Since it will be at least a month before my new apartment is ready - apparently they are doing extensive updating. This tells me that this is one of the units that has been occupied for a while and didn't get the benefit of the upgrading they did on all the rest. Anyway, I don't have to pack so quickly even though I will probably try to do a bin / box everyday of all the things that are not used daily. Then I can get rid of stuff as I go.
I did refill water bottles and got the kitty boxes cleaned up. Sylvester doesn't seem to feel to good today and I noticed he is moving a little awkwardly so I think I will give him a pain pill a couple of times today.
Balcony is opened up and I hope the cushion can get dried out so I can bring it in. Then I will figure out where to put all the empty bins, and the full bins.
But for now I am going to go clear email then see how much glasses cost at the online places and Costco.
Oh and I am watching the Amazing Race since I got a phone call in the middle of it and have no idea what happened.

Finally done with email!! And I moved my sofa a bit so I could put the empty boxes on the side by the bookcases so now I have a clear path in the house. Just need to take the giant box of cardboard out to the bins.
I did look around at some more apartments that supposedly matched my needs but none seemed better than the one I have chosen.
Finished watching Amazing Race, and then got thru Squid Games Challenge - Episode 3. I am finding it very fun to watch with Taran. One more episode to go but I want to look around for glasses before I do the #4.
Off to google.

Well Costco online seems to be out, they only offer distance or reading glasses, I need a progressive lens - the reason why my glasses are so expensive.
Let me see what else I can find.

Ordered some glasses from Warby Parker, we shall see how they work out, only $455. Not bad considering I usually pick a $400 frame at the eye doctors, LOL.
Off to play some computer games and watch the next Squid Games.

I got the balcony opened up because it may NOT rain, put out the cushions and towels, so the kitties have been chasing each other in and out.
For me I am grabbing the paper, some yogurt and going back to bed!

Email done, I had one from Warby Parker and had to do a measurement and upgrade my lenses. I thought I had ordered the upgrade but apparently not. So now I should get my glasses in 10 days....
Played computer games, still need to read the paper, watcher Tracker and now just getting ready to run down for some lunch.
I did clean up the kitchen and repackaged some of my new cookies. Might do a little packing of the bookcase and hutch.
