This is more of a question than issue - Right now, I have a landline, which also connects me to the internet (Century link), and a cell-phone (basic flip phone thru AT&T) I was thinking about getting rid of my landline and just upgrade to a smart phone like an Iphone. I want to do this without paying an arm and a leg for both internet and smartphone. And am also hoping to cut my current costs that runs about $100 a month. Has anyone done this who can provide how it works for them? Any suggestions on which vendors to move to that allow me to keep the computer internet connection with the iphone without the landline? I hoping to move to a single vendor. Also, I am not much of a phone user, but want to have access to the internet without having to haul my laptop around. I'm just looking for some suggestions before I go exploring on my own.

I don't really know the ins and outs of all this type of tech stuff, but I kind of doubt you could do it for less than $100. So if you connect to internet now via a landline, then you have DSL or dial-up connection? You need landline for either of those or cable for connection. I have a landline so I can use DSL connection. Don't want cable / don't want anything to do with Comcast, cable company in this area. I'm in a condo so I need landline for security connection to front entrance door to the building. I also have an iPhone with AT&T service.

LOL, I was going to say the same thing. I was impressed with the less than $100.

Really? I thought I was paying alot. $70 for the landline/internet and $30 for the cell, but then I have a dumb phone, not a smart one.

LOL, my internet and cable is $126 and then $24 for the landline and I was at $30 for the cell, but I didn't use the cell enough so I got a tracphone, I spend about $20 every 3-4 months.

My business internet is $70, my cable TV is $90, my two phone lines are $124, my mobile service(s) are $150 (two cell lines, my tablet, and my broadband). A good chunk of that ends up being business deductions though.

Good morning!! Part of me is hoping this problem is so original and bizarre that it reflects directly on the way my children describe me (which is as both original and bizarre ) and part hopes I just need new batteries or to push the right button. I have an all-in-one HP desktop computer, about 2 years old now and never a problem either hardware or software. But... starting yesterday every-time I hit the volume button on the keyboard (either up or down) my screen goes black for about a second. About a second for each time I hit the volume button, so if I hit it 4-5 times in a row then the screen is off for measurably longer then if I have just tapped it once. Once the screen comes back, everything is open and running so doesn't seem to be affecting the hard-drive. No other buttons seem to be affecting the screen this way (or tying this would have been really painful LOL) Any suggestions?

Emergency! Somebody please help! Something got spilled all over my computer last night. Hubby said it was all wet this morning. He tried to dry it off best he could. He just called and told me a little it ago. It won't come on. I've got it sitting upside down, trying to dry it out some more. So, is it dead? Could I take it in for repairs? Or will I just have to buy a new one? Don't see how, as I'm broke right now. Anyone have this happen before? Please help! At my wit's end. Typing this on my webby.

I'm sorry to say that liquid and electronics are very bad news. Unplug it and don't try to turn it on. Then you have to wait at least 24 hours. The longer you wait the better. If you are very lucky it may work again but chances are even if it does start working you may have problems with it from now on.

For small electronics they suggest you toss it in a sandwich bag filled with uncooked rice (absorbs liquids) and leave for at least a couple weeks. This worked for my daughter's ipod when she dumped it in our pool (after I ran it under the tap to clear out the chlorine) although the battery has never held a charge for very long since. Took about 3 weeks until we could even get it to turn on and it didn't work worth beans so we had nothing to lose by tossing it back in the bag for a few more weeks. If you try... make sure you rig it in such a way that rich doesn't get into the keyboard. I cant imagine your odds are very high if it was anything besides clear water though. Sorry but good luck.

The first thing I did was take the battery out and unplug it. I set in in the sun to dry. The bad thing is, after about an hour, I put it back together and tried to turn it on. Nada, like a car with a dead battery. It is now sitting upside air-drying, but most people say it's probably dead. : (. My stepson says I won't have to go as expensive with my next one, as I don't need all that power and memory. All I mostly use it for is email and surfing the internet.

I plugged it up and I could hear the fan running, the beginning screen came up with the brand name, and a light blinked a few times, then it cut itself off, and then, it came back on and did the same thing over and over. I had to unplug it to get it to stop.

My brother has recommended I buy a tablet. Specifically a Nexus 7, I believe he said.

Other older brother said it sounds like it keeps rebooting itself. Not sure if anyone knows how to make it stop doing that?

I think you need to turn it off and pull the battery and let it dry for a while. You might call a computer repair guy and ask them how long it needs to dry before you call it dead. I have a great one, but he's in CA.

HELP Please: The past few days I've begun getting this popup sometimes when I go into youtube and Always when I try to play the WORD TRICK game on Facebook. I am NOT able to click on either Allow or Deny because it's NOT clickable, kind of frozen. I want to disable it, so it doesn't pop up anymore. SUGGESTIONS greatly appreciated. I tried System Restore back to Sept. 22nd but it didn't help. BTW, the blue area that says s.ytimg.com is different when it pops up in wordtrick. This is the youtube popup. In other words the blue address is diffferent in word trick. I got this pic of it from another site. Mine says currently used: 0 KB

I've gotten that for Zynga games I play on FB. next time allow this screen to have some time before you click "allow". It will finally work. mine did. Then the game loads a lot faster or you tubes in this case for you. Adobe flash is used for most of the FB games.

Thanks Landi, I'll try that. A friend of mine thinks it might be malware. Not sure what to think, or how to get rid of it.

it is not malware. it is adobe flash player trying to load some of the game on the computer so that when you access the game it runs faster not having to run it from the web.

I'd go to Adobe.com and update your flash player for your browser.

Landi I want to thank you. I took your advice and just WAITED a minute or two and then that annoying little box was clickable and I was able to view the video. Not sure if it will work every time from now on, but it certainly did work for me this afternoon. And the nice thing, is that I hadn't uninstalled or had to reinstall the flashplayer yet. Which, frankly, I was dreading.
