Costa, did you ever get your ICS upgrade?. My wife just got the ICS upgrade on her Asus TF101. Its pretty freakin' sweet. I have a hacked version of it on my phone but the official version seems smoother on her tablet. I'm so jealous.

Haven't yet. I keep meaning to call Verizon but I've been out of town for a week (just got back). I'll call next week to see what's up. I can't wait and if YOU are jealous, then I really can't wait!

I can't wait to join you guys in your fun. I'm getting an Acer Iconia tablet for my birthday, but my birthday isn't until June. Maybe it will come earlier if I am a good girl LOL I just want to have it before Big Brother starts July.

I have about 2 months before I can upgrade my phone. I'm torn between the HTC One or the Samsung Note. Both of them are sweet phones.

I still don't have ICS and don't EVEN ask me how irritated I am. HTC says it's Verizon. Verizon says it's HTC. Sigh... I'm about to toss this phone and get a Nexus!! (However, I really do like HTC phones. HTC Sense is awesome!)

I've been very unhappy with my Droid phone, which I've had for over a year and a half now. I do, however, like many of the apps in the Android Market. Has anyone here switched from Android to iPhone? I'm considering getting the iPhone4 at the end of June--or switching back to Blackberry, which I liked a lot before I tried the Droid. I do use my phone for e-mailing a good bit & love having a touch-screen, but my Droid is squirrelly. It does really random, stupid things with no notice!! Any recommendations? Thanks.

A belated huge thanks to Nick and Costa! My Android died around the two month mark. AT & T customer service really stinks. I finally got a new phone after a week and a half. They tried to send me a new battery, but sent the wrong one, then contacted Motorola to get me a battery and they sent me the wrong one, too. Idiots. I'll be exploring the links that Nick provided tonight...Thanks again.

Sia, "random, stupid" things? An example? Mine gets really weird too when it gets dusty. Gotta keep it relatively clean, I think. I absolutely don't touch it when I'm eating. I've been pretty rough on my phones in the past, but I realize I can't be with this one.

Sometimes it's the phone (there are many that run Droid). konashark has HTC, I have Samsung Galaxy. Both are Droid but have some big differences in apps and how they run. Before I load a new app (or an update), I read all the recent reviews. On some phones it runs great, on others it's squirrelly. So sometimes I won't upgrade (ex. I haven't upgraded my Facebook app for months, too many complaints). I think the weirdest thing is sometimes the music app turns on automatically when konashark's HTC connects the bluetooth to his car's Microsoft Sync system. Sometimes my phone will reboot after unattaching from my car charger. We've been with Sprint for a very long time. Didn't want to deal with AT&T (too many horror stories) so we never thought about iPhone. Now we're happy with Droid (I miss some of the features of my Palm Pre but they weren't doing any new apps for that OS so had to switch).

Lycanthrope, thanks so much for responding to my post. I can give a partial list of random, stupid things that my Droid phone does. If it's a problem that it doesn't react well to being dusty, that might be one source of the trouble because I don't knock the dust out of my phone. I do use a screen protector designed for the Droid. I never slide out the keyboard because I HATE the flat keys. My son got the good phone; mine's a lemon!! Here's a partial list of issues: -the phone will randomly call someone from my recent call history, sometimes when I'm not even holding the phone. The phone can be on the counter, on the seat of the car, etc. -call clarity is nonexistent; people constantly ask me to speak up, although I've updated my roaming as recommended by Verizon--and calls are abruptly DROPPED with absolutely no warning. -sometimes I open a folder (like my Games folder) to find that some, if not ALL of the game icons are there in triplicate or in doubles. Sometimes the duplicate icons go away on their own, but if they're there too long I can get rid of them physically by dragging-and-dropping or simply by turning off the phone and turning it on again. -my phone frequently says it is running out of space, text messages are rejected because there are too many, etc. -I selected this particular Droid over the Blackberry I was considering because the Verizon salesperson at the store SWORE that the camera was better. Many, many of my photos are solid black across part or over half of them; this doesn't seem to be caused by operator error (shadow, etc.), and I can't resolve this. Photo quality is extremely poor. I HATE the photos this camera/phone takes. -uploading photos to Facebook takes forever, and often the process doesn't complete. -updating apps takes an extremely long time. I can't think of any major things right this second, but these items are annoying enough that I HATE my Droid. Model number Droid, Android version 2.2.3, build # FRK76.

Lycan, the HTC phones have HTC Sense. They add a bit of ease of use, and some additional functionality. It's why I got another HTC when I tossed my Incredible out the door. (Oddly enough, I'm using it again, but with WiFi only, for development.) I have never had a problem with a dusty phone. I don't even know how you'd get a dusty phone. Sia, what phone do you have and where do you live? Do you have 4G or are you on 3G? That may have a lot to do with the call quality, although I will say that I think my HTC Rezound has better call quality than the Incredible did. If you are on 3G that may also have something to do with apps timing out or taking a long time. Have to tried to use WiFi only for downloading apps? You're also using an old version of Android. You should see if you can update to 2.3.4 (which is the latest version prior to ICS). So along with what phone are you using, how OLD is that phone? I will say this... I work on various iOS devices, including the iPad and iPhone. I own my own personal Android devices (a phone and tablet). I absolutely LOVE my Android devices and will never EVER use an iPhone. While certain developers I know cuss and moan cuz Android runs on so many devices and form factors, it's one reason I like it. As far as Verizon, I never have bad call quality, but I do know that it will depend on where you are. Most of the areas in which I travel are 4G networks, and I never have problems. I have had problems if I've been stuck out in the boondocks, though.

Sia, it definitely sounds like you need a new phone. Costa, I don't have an HTC, but a Motorola Atrix 2. I have a screen protector, too, but sometimes it accumulates dust and when it does it gets squirrelly. But come to think of it, that was on the phone I had that crashed and had to be replaced, so maybe it wasn't the dust but a preview of things to come. The only time I have dropped calls is when I'm talking to someone who subscribes to the devil's network (Sprint).

LOL!! I think AT&T is the devil's network... whenever I talk to anyone on AT&T (using an iPhone!), the call is dropped on THEIR end! Almost always! Pffft! Funny, but I've never had a dust problem on any phone. Ever. Dunno if it's just lucky or that I live in a dust free zone (although my phones have done lots of hanging on sandy beaches!).

Well, I'm in Texas, and the wind blows hard a lot here. And we have lots of dirt, which makes really annoying dust. A lot of times in my job, my phone gets taken outside to experience the dusty conditions... I work in a building where the reception is dicey on our floor for every network except AT&T and Verizon. Sprint, and the little sister networks can't get a signal. I would drop AT&T in a heartbeat if I noticed another network doing a better job...but I hear horror stories from people on every network...

Of all the people I know and those I travel with, my Verizon phones are the only ones who still work in the bowels of a hotel, still work when the network is busy, and so on. I've never had a dropped call that was my fault. AT&T drops calls often, T Mobile can't get signals in some locations in some hotels, yada yada yada. Or else I'm just darned lucky!

Naja, I am posting right now on my Samsung tablet. :-) I like using it when I am too lazy to get out of bed, or when I am flopped on the sofa. The only downside is that I type w one finger on the touchscreen whereas I type properly on my desktop. Now truth be told, DH bought a case w a real keyboard for the tablet, but I can't be bothered to attach it. I can see myself using that keyboard only when travelling or perhaps if I had to do a lot of typing. Actually I am lying down right now and my right shoulder is getting sore from my typing. I do not use my tablet often. It's a coincidence that I'm using it this a.m.

I just realized that my Kobo eReader is kind of a mini-tablet. So I can get online, w/my cellphone, my Kobo, my tablet, and of course my desktop, As well as DH's cellphone, and Desktop. (Oh and I've been up at my desktop for hours, and my shoulder is still sore from typing on the tablet when I was lying down.)

Naja, would the Kindle Fire be considered a tablet of sorts? I have one and use it all the time--even in bed. It uses Android apps, as does my worthless Droid "smart-phone."

Oh good. Tablet users I was hoping for tablet users because you definitely use a 3 or 4 inch screen on a phone in different ways than you would use a 10 inch tablet screen. Of course there would be many things you would use them both for. I didn't mean android on a smartphone can't do things. It's less than a month until my bday, so I'll have my tablet soon!

I have many of the same apps installed on both my phone and tablet. Pretty much the only thing I don't do on my phone is use the Nook or Kindle readers. And the only thing I don't use the tablet for is email that's not my gmail account. Otherwise, they are interchangeable to me.

My wife has an Asus TF101 tablet and I have a Pandigital SuperNova. My tablet isnt as high end as my wife's. Hers is running ICS and mine is gingerbread 2.3.1 and pandigital says they're not releasing ICS for it. Right now I have it rooted and running a market hack on it because the SuperNova isn't or has yet to be blessed by Google. So there is no market access and you have to use 3rd party markets to get apps .......unless you're like me and can access the official Google Play Market. My wife wont let me root hers..she's all about "can't you well enough alone."

Sia...have you tried to factory reset your phone? Settings>privacy>factory reset It sounds like to me you have a buggy install of android. Factory restore will reload the OS from the ground up and may clean it up so it runs better. It be like starting all over so back up anything you don't want to lose. That or root it and put a custom ROM on it.
