I was ready to break down when I saw poor Gladys crying on her way down the aisle to the alter. I get the definite feeling the Duke is a creep but they haven't shown it yet.

It's funny how pristine the streets of NYC are, when in reality they were covered in manure at that time. Piles of it lined the streets, and the smell was horrendous.

Yeah for finding the thread. Yes Naja, I just finished "Astor, the rise and fall of an American Fortune" They talk about the filth of the streets, especially as the mansions were blocks away from misery.

Well I was glad to see Bertha was able to help Gladys. Instead of being a creep, it appears the Duke is a wimp with a controlling sister.

Pamy, the real duchess divorced the duke after 20 years. They were miserable together and he let her know from the jump that he only married her for the million dollar dowry. I finished the book about the Astors and the story mirrored what happened in the Gilded age including that she was in love with someone else and Ava Astor put the kebosh on it.

The story about McCalister is true. He was ostracized by Mrs Astor and pretty much kicked out of high society. He was also the one who coined the phrase "the 400" which identified the cream of society. 400 represented how many people could fit in Mrs. Astors ballroom. If you get a chance to read Anderson Cooper's "Astor" you will find it fascinating.

We went from "will Mrs. Van Rhijn cross the street to the Russells home" in S1 to S3 where John Adams is killed by a carriage and Railroad Daddy is shot.

The show him shot. There is no way Bertha would still hold the ball if he was dead. I'm sure he survives, hopefully so will their marriage.
I love that the Duke and Gladys seem to be falling in love.
