Sincebb1, I bought the book Burn it Down. I read the article you posted above about Lost. So appalling. I’m interested in reading the story behind Sleepy Hollow. So many bad decisions made with that show.

I noticed Cruel summer on my DVR and thought "what is this?" Gosh it seems like years and years ago we watched season 1! Do we need to know anything about 1 to watch 2? I plan to just leave it on the DVR until my college student is home to watch with me.

They are two separate stories, Brenda. I haven’t watched the first season.

Naja, I just thought of another thing.. When Megan went back to the cabin to clean up blood she found an ID of Isabella’s with the name Pat Highsmith. Patricia Highsmith wrote The Talented Mr. Ripley. I thought that was a clue of sorts.

I watched the first episode last night. It jumps around in time so much, I couldn't keep up with it.

This is an interesting article about the current streaming mess..

The Binge Purge TV’s streaming model is broken. It’s also not going away. For Hollywood, figuring that out will be a horror show.

https://www.vulture.com/2023/06/streaming-industry-netflix-max-disney-hulu-apple-tv-prime-video-peacock-paramount.html

I haven’t finished the article, but this paragraph is interesting..

To make up for the lost back end, streamers floated performance-based incentives. Schur describes a scenario in which a platform might promise a showrunner a $100,000 bonus for season one, $250,000 for season two, $500,000 for season three, and $1.7 million for season four. “So you’re like, Holy shit. This is great!” he says. There was a catch. Many seemingly successful series began to vanish after just a couple of seasons. “What no one saw coming was they’d just kill the show before they ever had to pay that money out,” Schur says. “They kind of tricked everybody. Now if you get to 20 episodes, it’s a miracle.”

The really have no incentive to go past a second season. So frustrating as viewers.

It is an interesting article and brings up a point I've been complaining about for a while -- shows that are 8 or 10 eps that should have been a movie or just 3 or 4 eps. Bloating due to streaming.

And yes the model seems doomed to give us 1 or 2 season shows -- which is fine I think as long as the creators know this and tell their stories in a season and don't leave us hanging.

Naja, Cruel Summer... all I got out of e2 is that Isabella is jealous of Meghan and the boy's friendship (rather than them dating) so it seemed like she was going to tell the mother it was Meghan, not her, sleeping with him.

They thought it was Isabella in the video because Meghan was wearing her cardigan.

I didn't get much relevant to he murder, I guess that is coming.

Do we have a Star Trek: Strange New World's thread? Or should I talk about it in the Sci-Fi thread first and see if there is interest? Season 2, episode 1 just aired on this past Thursday after nothing for an entire year.

I watched the third episode of season 2, Cruel Summer last night. They still jump around in time, but not as bad. I still don't quite understand it.

Yeah. I recently binged the first season and it moved along much better. This season seems a bit sluggish.

I'd talk about ST:Strange New World in its own thread. Don't know if it's just you and me though.

Is anyone watching From, on Paramount Plus? I didn't see it mentioned anywhere. It's spooky and dramatic, love watching it

Oh good. It's one of those shows where you don't know what's going to happen next!

Because of Cable's recommendation, I've started watching From. So far I'm really enjoying it. I feel like they combined The Village with Lost. I'm watching it through Amazon Prime.

Well dang, I could only watch season one of From on prime because I don't want to subscribe to MGM. Guess I'll have to wait a year.

Another series I'm enjoying on prime is Deadloch. I wasn't sure about it at first but I hung in there and really grew to enjoy the characters.

The only thing that kept me from starting Deadloch was it said it was a comedy. The story sounded like an interesting murder mystery until I saw it was a comedy.
