Padma said sha was done with gimicky cooking shows. she said this show would only use the best foods and equipment. Be that as it may be. I don't enjoy this show. The cooks cook in pairs against their partner only. That means the best chef can be paired with the second best and the worst be paired with the second worst. There is a lot of cooking but only for very short times. So many cooks not enough time to show it. I admit to knowing a few of the chefs. I recognize Buda who one Top chef twice, he is floating on the bottom here. Besides eliminations frequently get rid of the best chefs because so many one on one cook offs, but also because the judging is weird. I may try one more time or just give up

I have this on my DVR, but I"ve been seeing the previews each week and it looks less and less appealing to me, I may not watch it

I watched most of the 1st episode before I fell asleep. I was bothered that the 2 very best chefs, that nobody wanted to be pitted against, ended up against each other and one was going to have to leave. What a waste. And the producers must have known that was going to happen and wanted it to. I fell asleep before I found out which one got to stay, but I just wasn't invested enough to go back and find out.

Am I the only person that likes the show?

I don’t mind it. I’ve watched a couple of episodes. My only question is how can those judges eat so much food in a day. Last episode, they had 10 meals. The men seem to clean their plates. It just seems like a lot.

I like it, but I do think some of the challenges emphasized competition other than just cooking... like the one that pitted the two award winners against each other. It puts more of the control of the comp in the hands of the contestants.

The biggest issue I have with this show reared its ugly head this last episode - and that is product placement. First, there were two chefs talking over a sink while they are washing their pans with Dawn about how much they love Dawn (and we know the chefs don't wash their cookware or dishes). They also have a "Dawn" patch on the sleeves of their chef's coats. That shit drives me crazy.

I think Buddha has this thing won.

I'd be stunned if Buddha didn't win. He seems to be Padma's favorite out of all her seasons on TC.

He is definitely a favorite and is really way ahead of every else. He is steady, calm, picks himself up without drama.

Honestly, I thought Buddha finished close to last in a few of the challenges?

Yes in the first few, Budda was in the elimination groups. today the woman that was the winingest, came in last and went home. It was another stupid challenge make as many dishes in 5 hours using special techmiques. they averaged 40 dishes each, not all winners. I guess to me, this is a show that does not showcase good cooking unlike the original description I would class it with 24 in 24 where ability to not sleep is a major factor in the win. I can accept a show that claims it is what it is. this show however climed it wouldnever use gimickly challenges just pure cooking with exceptional ingredients.

totally shocked that Buddha didn't make it to finals. I was so sure that Padma would push him to the end.

Buddha really did poorly the last two challenges... he always seemed a bit hit or miss to me.

I agree Karuuna, his ego got the best of him. He seemed like he felt like he was entitled to move forward. He had always been treated by Padma and Colicchio as he was above others and he may have bought into it himself.

Maris, I'm with you. I thought for sure Padma would have dragged Buddha to the end.

You are surprised that Budda lost? he was give the one catagory I do't think many people would favor. no, I am not a big fan, but seriously they seem t accept that they had several profiles selectd ?randomly? no real explaination how the magic happens. what was theothr one? unmami? that would be a winner. Look reality shows are not real we all know that. mpw I like top chef, that is pretty much real. when thre is a selection of things they usually do a random pick of knives, not andunexplained pre chosen choice. And you know it because when they want someone to win, they bring them back again and again until they will Like Richard Blaise or Carla Hall (well she never won, if you haven't won by 3 times you are out). on some shows someone wins a losercategory and that throws the show off kilter. while I can't think of a case beside the loss of Richard Blaise and other favorites, you know when you see it. Bitter. I can't think of too many favorites that are bitter. I can't think of too much where I find bitter that I can deal with. that was a category that was odds on a loser.
