On Friday, when I was on TVCH in one window and IMDB in another window, I got a pop up window that turned in to a series of large popup windows that I couldn't close-- That redirected me to a porn site. Ack! I'm not sure if it was from a TVCH popup or an IMDB popup, so I just thought I'd mention it, and I'll be contacting IMDB about it too. How could that happen? I can't imagine TVCH or IMDB somehow linking to a porn site via popups-- Why would there be anything pornographic at work, what with firewalls et al, and the fact that I would never look at anything porn-related at work? It was totally disturbing. After the redirect, my home page was reset to be a different (porn-related) page. I cleared the cache, deleted cookies and my history, and reset my normal home page. But I have the same "not my home page" problem on my home PC, and resetting your home page only works for your current PC session. Once you shut down or restart, the home page is set back to the one you don't want. So now I am paranoid that this will happen again (going to a porn site at work and getting a porn home page every time I start up my PC at work). I was going to put in an IS work order at work, but thought I'd ask around first. Help! And thanks.

Kimmo: You should download and run programs such as AdAware and/or SpyBot - it sounds like you may have something loaded on your computer which is doing this to you. There are no popups on TVCH and possibly not on IMDB (not sure but I doubt it, and certainly not the type you describe). AdAware Website SpyBot Search & Destroy Website Hope this helps.

That's right, the TV Clubhouse does not subject anyone to popups or porno advertising. We do have some banners, invue and interstitial ads on some of the static pages, but not popups. One of the latest internet annoyances is software that puts a cookie onto your computer without you knowing it, or even a small snippet of programming code, which everyone calls Spyware. I don't know everything about how it all works, but sometimes this spyware will read your history files and determine what sites you visit frequently, then when you visit those sites, will display advertising or popups for other sites...giving the appearance that your popular site was behind it all! As Draheid said, get Ad-Aware available from Lavasoft USA...it's free and it really works! I've updated the FAQ to include this information in the Why is there advertising on the TVCH? area.
