He is the first hearing-impaired contestant on BBUS. He olds multiple world records in swimming for the Deaflympics in the 50 meter back and the 50 meter free.

    Mary  @millz_bb  ·  4h  He has hearing aids and has relatively "typical" hearing with them on, according to his time at LSU. I am sure (at least I hope) in competitions he has to remove his aids they will give clear directions to him in DR before hand or give time for him to give them to someone if live

    He says he has a “50%” hearing loss, and doesn’t sign.  As my son is deaf, with hearing aides and lip reading he does very well, but it’s exhausting for son.  It’s worth noting that hearing aides don’t “fix” hearing like glasses “fix” eyesight. Even with hearing aides son cannot hear ‘f, s, -ed” for instance as these are “high frequency sounds”.
