There's a Netflix documentary on Ryan's case and how he got out. His father was relentless.

I looked it up online and the whole thing is just awful. Apparently his friend blacked out from a drinking binge and then started having dreams that he killed someone. So he confessed and implicated Ryan. There was no DNA or other evidence indicating either had been there. Friend took a plea for 25 years and Ryan got 40 because he said he was innocent.

My daughter and I watched Dream Killer and while it is very good, it's mostly about Ryan's dad working to get him out of prison. It doesn't go into a lot of the original story described above about the guy who thought he might have killed someone and about how the police coerced a confession, nor about other suspects. I think 48 hours or 20/20 or Dateline -- one of those covered this case extensively. It's fascinating and truely terrifying.

48 Hours @48hours ยท Jan 24 Ryan Ferguson spent a decade in prison after he was wrongfully convicted of murder. Now, as a competitor on The @AmazingRaceCBS, @lifeafterten shares his journey with @EFMoriarty, who has covered his story from the beginning. https://cbsn.ws/3FXgJfr

It's on Netflix. Dream/Killer is the name of the documentary. It is mostly about his Dad's pushing to clear him, but a good watch.

it's 48 hours. I'm not sure where you can find these. I think they covered it several times. The Accuser S25 E45 Jun 15, 2013 Wrongfully Convicted - season 29 ep 17 aired in 2016 Life after Ten - aired in 2014, but I don't know ep number. It's really too bad they are not on demand. I wonder if you could find stuff on youtube.
