I saw this and thought I'd pass it on. I don't understand why this stuff is legal. Whatever happened to your right to privacy?
I added the link to the thread so you can read replies because some people are saying it was suspended. But can you trust meta to actually tell the truth?

🚨 Meta is rolling out new AI image generator that allows anyone to create AI images with your photos
TURN IT OFF:
Open IG - tap 3 lines on top right corner to open settings
Select Sharing and Reuse
In section "Allow people to use your content on Instagram and …" turn off "Posts" & "Reels."
If you don’t see it yet - keep checking daily, they are in the process of rolling it out.

As a PSA:
In the last week, two people I know got tricked by scam websites that used AI to replicate the websites of real businesses they had bought things from in the past.
The only discernible difference was a slightly different website name, making it nearly impossible to tell the real site from the fake one if you don’t have a URL memorized off the top of your head.
The fake sites appeared higher in the results on search engines.
Their credit card companies canceled and refunded the charges. They also said this has been happening a lot lately.
And after hearing about it, I started to notice emails I never opened in my inbox from my own credit card company, warning about new trends in AI scams.

If true, a disturbing thing about that is that they are appearing higher in search results than the real websites. Hard to imagine that happening but I guess it’s possible.

My understanding is the major search engines (i.e. google) try to prevent scam websites from appearing in search results like that but I guess it could happen.

Maybe the scam AI website tells the search engine to put it higher. And since the search engine is also AI it listens to the command.
If that makes sense.

If I were still on the job, this is the sort of thing I would be investigating, just because it was my favorite thing - my colleagues in two different cities called me "the savior of the little people".
