Aww Mak1 I went to parochial schools and the always had us selling stuff from 1st grade. Everything from Cookies, to wrapping paper, Christmas cards, candy bars, popcorn tins, anything you can think of. There was always something that needed a fundraiser.

I couldn’t sell anything. Naja’s post about selling stuff from catholic schools hit a nerve with me. We had to sell Reece’s peanut butter cups for a high school fundraiser. My friends and I ate more than we sold. We consolidated the non eaten Reeces to fill partially empty boxes. Then, pooled our money to pay for what we ate. That’s why they are still my friends 55 years later.

Books, definitely books. I had very successful sales during my retail years with Waldenbooks. I also worked part time at Lane Bryant and did well there as well. Does anyone else remember collecting funds to Send a Mouse to College? It was for cancer research. I think I was in second grade attending the little Catholic school in my small hometown.

Oh Naja, I got through it. If I had to sell something in order to live, it would be books, but not door-to-door. I'd be fine selling to other book lovers. Sugar, we didn't have that project. That's a cute name for it. (I just googled it, and it doesn't sound so cute now that I know why the mouse was going to college!)

I like learning about many subjects and it is amazing how often I can pass along resources to other people.. But not for money. Books...

NEW QUESTION! Happy Easter everybody! So, the Easter Bunny came and sprinkled some magic fairy dust on you while you were sleeping and granted you a new skill or talent. What is it and how would you use it?

I would like the talent of a concert pianist. I would get a job with a famous pop star or country artist and tour with them.

Same as Naja. I regret not taking piano lessons. Of course as an Air Force dependent as a child we rarely stayed in one place for more than 1 1/2 to 2 years. Pianos are expensive and heavy on top of that so never had one at home. Neither of my parents could play an instrument much less a piano. My wife has a great voice and I wish I could play for her to sing.

The ability to play the piano with ease. I could play for anyone who wanted to hear beautiful piano music.

When I posted this question, singing was and still my answer. It's a shame that everyone can't sing in tune. Imagine what a much happier world it would be if everyone could.

I'll go with the piano/keyboard. I can read music and I've played quite a few instruments (saxophone, clarinet, flute, recorder, harmonica, etc.) but for some reason as a young guy I never took my piano lessons seriously. It's a great instrument and it's something I regret. My Dad used to laugh when I'd read sheet music and play the harmonica. He said he'd never heard of anyone doing that.

Considering my last name irl, ironically the only way I could ever carry a tune would be in a bucket. 🤪

I can’t sing worth a darn, but not what I’d want to do. I took piano lessons and hated it. I would want to skill to easily talk to people when I first meet them.

Some of our senior strum and sing members are so good on the guitar! I try to sit near John and his guide dog.. John has been legally quite blind most of his life and his guitar work is amazing. Even if someone start a song he has never heard he just picks it up, and not just chords but fingering too.

NEW QUESTION! OK, my darling, musical miscreants: What book is the most memorable or had the biggest impact on your life? You can name more than 1 if you'd like.

To Kill A Mockingbird is my favorite book and has been since I was a young teen. The characters are richly formed, it challenges people to think about basic decency, kindness and doing the right thing for the right reason without being "preachy". I read very little nonfiction, Educated, is a book that I found fascinating. The book often comes to mind. Her life amazes me.

Audrey Rose. I read it when I was 11 and it made me start thinking about the afterlife as well as cemented my obsession and enjoyment with all things scary. Side note....as soon as the movie came out a year later, Mom and Granny took me to see it knowing how much I loved the book. It was my first experience of the book was better than the movie

The Keys of the Kingdom by A.J. Cronin. It is well written and I agree with the religion it follows. It was also a movie, with Gregory Peck. The book was better, but the movie was good also.

I don't know, some academic tome I would think . But in terms of novels, I suppose I go for popular fiction, I thought Interview with the Vampire and all the Vampire books she wrote were spectacular, but probably not life changing .
