About 20 years ago, I got invited to a auction benefit at the Portland Art Museum. The benefit was for arts in the schools. Anyway, there was a buzz that William Hurt may attend the benefit, as he was performing at the Repertory Arts theatre locally. Yes, he did show up and the buzz was amazing, creating so much electricity in the room as he walked in. William Hurt donated quite a bit during the auction. The generosity in the room inspired me to also donate much more than i could afford at the time. I never met him, but he seemed at ease and just a good guy. Apparently, he’s been living in Portland for quite awhile, performed in a few local productions and passed here.

He was indeed a legendary actor.
I used to think over-70 was a kind of average age to pass on and didn't give it much thought. These days, it is seeming kind of youngish.

When my mom had her stroke, she fell suddenly to the carpeted ground. She got really bruised on her face from the fall. You would think carpet would provide a softer landing, but it doesn’t.

I fell backward on carpet and it was quite a bonk, despite the carpet. My first thought was that I would have to stay awake for hours, definitely not to go sleep, but then discovered the scalp wound , which was bleeding like a scalp would, so I got dressed and drove the short distance to the emergency room. There they screened for concussion and stalled my scalp.
I would hope that had there been no blood I would have still headed to the ER. In the future, yes, I would.
