Does anyone know of a good bra for square neck or slightly wider topped shirts or dresses? I am having a very hard time finding a bra that works with these type of necklines. I am a bit busty which seems to further complicate things.
I just bought a fun and pretty summer frock that has a square neckline. I hope I don't have to return it as I did a few shirts last year for lack of an acceptable bra.

What we used to do in the old days was pin the bra straps from the under side to the neckline seam.

Thanks.

That won't work with this dress as I have full coverage bras so it is more than just the straps showing and it might be cut a bit lower in the back so the bra back shows a bit as well.

Sugar, take your fun summer frock to a dept store that has fitters and they will solve your problem.

I suppose I could try that again. I went to Macy's last year and they had 1 person trying to work 3 different areas, she tried to show me some bras but they didn't meet my needs. She said they were so understaffed they didn't have any fitters. The other department stores I called weren't offering fitting appointments either.
Maybe I will try calling around again tomorrow, perhaps things have improved.

Sugar, is there a Dillards near you? I work at one and they are VERY good at my store. Call in advance maybe and make sure a fitter is working? The right person can make all the difference.

Hmmm... I wonder if Dillards has bra fitters that work with mastectomies and prosthetics... I've had a heck of a time finding something that looks natural.

Also, Sugar, a year ago was still bigtime pandemic, and bra fitters have to get pretty close to people, so maybe those specialists had not yet returned to work?

Okay, so if we collectively manage to get Sugar a bra for the summer frock, I think we are going to need photos of our summer frock success.

Do you have a Soma store near you? Maybe in a mall? All they do is fit people with bras.

I have never heard of a Soma, looked them up. Looks like they are only west coast. Nearest one to me is 78 miles south in a huge shopping mall.

Molly Hopkins from 90 Day Fiance and Double Divas has a bra business, Livi Rae Lingerie in Georgia, but they do virtual fittings. 770 429 7004.

Might be worth a call.

We have SOMA in Texas. Love their bras and panties! And they will do a bra fit.

Juju, bra fitting HAS changed, but still works. At Dillards, they start with the bra size you think you are. They give you a "fit bra" in that size. You put it on (or not) and they go from there. The are not in the room with you as you put it on, but they do evaluate how THAT bra fits and brings ones they think will be better. I do not mean to be a commercial for my store, but I am not an average person and I love my new bras.

Krauuna, I know one of the stores in my area had people trained for that, but it was one out of 7. You might call and find out if that is true near you. The last 2 years have been a round robin of people leaving just like everywhere.

AND if anyone reading this has not had a good bra fitting, you need one. ALL your clothes look different in the right bra.

Christy, thanks for the heads up... I've been struggling with this for almost 3 years, and I haven't found anything that I'm not constantly readjusting. Which is a little embarrassing in public.

Anyone heard of KNIX brand of bras? They seem to only be available online. I have very round, tiny shoulders and the bra straps always seem to slide off my shoulders and down my arms. So I like that KNIX has a cross back/shoulder style.
But I have big boobs which need proper support. I have no intention of ordering a bra without trying it on first, so ordering it online is out of the question. Any suggestions or advice ladies?

Karuuna, I wonder if your Dillard's is like Nordstrom, or if you have Nordstrom. As I remember, Nordstrom also had employees trained to help fit with prostheses and bras.

Here at St Joseph Cancer Center there is a really lovely gift shop with wonderful items, chosen for comfort and style, jewllry, clothing,, AND they have wig and bra/prosthesis rooms too. It is named for one of the Knott family women who had breast cancer. Knott's Berry Farm family.

Other hospitals have special services, or would know where there might be some help.

Not sure if American Cancer Society has re-started the Look Good, Feel Better program and i never went through that but some of my patients said they really liked it.

Providence in Portland had the same type of service.

St Joeseph is a Providence Hospital too.

( years ago when I was a programmer, there were people who had worked as operators at St Joseph and they said they had to answer the phone "Sisters of St Joseph". And to this day the nuns are still there next to the hospital and I think some still work or volunteer there. They joined Providence in recent years.

Another nice thing there, they have a reserved spot for American Cancer Society drivers (not that we are back to driving yet) right next to the spot for the Director of the Cancer Center.

Seamonkey do have one of those, but I think it's only in Denver. Oddly enough, prosthesis are supposed to be covered by your medical insurance, if you work with your medical center. But when I asked my cancer center, they knew nothing about that. So frustrating!

Providence Portland was started by the Sisters of Providence many, many years ago. The order was from Canada. Don’t think there are many nuns there anymore.

Christy358, I have an appointment on Monday at Dillards. Thanks for the suggestion.

I hope I can find something and that it does not cost a fortune.
