Just saw an announcement on the NFL channel----John Madden has passed away at the age of 85. For anyone that liked or likes the game of football, coach Madden made the game better, both as a coach and as a broadcaster.

Most of the time, I hear about celebrities passing and while I appreciate their life and their contributions, I never knew them personally. However, for someone like John Madden who made such a strong positive personal impression, I can't help but feel a stronger loss. The joy and enthusiasm that he demonstrated both as a coach and broadcaster made the game and life better.

I'd be hard pressed to think of any single person who made more contributions to the game of football than John Madden, both on and off the field. I wasn't alive when he was coaching but he was an absolute joy to listen to in the announcer's booth on Sundays.

I'm posting the weekly results, the season average results will be posted later today, or later in the week...there's a glitch in my spreadsheet that I need to get fixed.

Scooter, oddly, for all the years I've never paid attention to the math of the results. no clue why I did this week. I see in the individual results that the first 5 players in the ranking had the exact same results for the games, with the only differences being the bonus questions. You and Bob had the exact same results for the bonus questions, so it makes since that the total points for the two of you are the same.

When I look at the total points, they don't add up for anyone if you go across and add the points shown. Games are scored either 40 for a correct pick or 0 for a wring pick. If you add up just games, the totals should all end in zero...do I have that correct? Then adding the scores you put down for questions would be added to it? (although with question 1, you state 15 points, minus the variance of your guess from the actual points scored, and for question 2 25 points, minus the variance of your guess from the actual points scored) Yet for question 2, everyone had more than 25 points, and for question 1, 3 people had more than 15 points.

Anyway, when you add up points for the games plus the points for the questions, those numbers don't match the total points assigned for anyone. I'm sure I'm missing something very obvious to most....color me dumb.

HI Lance, I've had Jimmer double check the spreadsheet...I do know the reason that they don't add up, is that the bonus points showing are the points that were guessed, not the actual value.

Unfortunately, I didn't have Who's spreadsheets, and we had to create new ones, so I know that the way it's showing now, isn't the same as it would show when she did it.

I'm more than happy to send over the spreadsheets we created to see if someone can make it consistent with what Who's showed. :-)

This could be a very interesting week. Just heard the Bengals will not be playing Borrow or Mixon. And the Browns will not play Mayfield. It will be interesting to see what other sits sit big time players for the last game, either because the team has no chance at the playoffs or they have their position already locked up so they can't become any better or worse off.

Some picks could be a crap shoot lol

I’m pretty good at Excel. I’ll be glad to take a look at the spreadsheets in the off season and make any changes that people are interested in seeing. If that will help.

Thanks Lance. Scooter is great running things and she is the one who is doing the heavy lifting. I'm mostly just cheering her on from the sidelines, with the very occasional fixing of a rare glitch. :-)

Ok, never would have thought Detroit and Jacksonville would win. And Jacksonville game wasn't even close.

Figured the Steelers/Ravens game would be at least close. Actually a really good game in OT.

Well Lance you aren't alone in complete surprise that the Packers and Colts would lose their respective games to the Lions and the Jags. Two of the most lopsided wins of the season!

Fortunately for ALL of us that NONE of us saw it coming, so it's a wash as far as points go.

Ya'll are lucky. Riviere and I discussed taking the LIONS (we are both from Michigan) but we didn't want to throw our picks way. Boy was that wrong hahahaha!
