I would have sworn that I remember a figure skater gal who had to wait three years and 10 months before she could participate. She was two months short of being 14? 15? the previous games?

There is no universal age requirement. Skateboarding has no age requirement at all which let in a 12 year old. Table tennis had a 12 year old too. Gymnastics require 16. Boxing is 18. Divers are 14, as are swimmers. Track (for the USA team) is 14 for female, no age for male. On the flip side, Olympic men’s soccer are supposedly under 23 with 3 exceptions per team. But Covid has made it under 24 this time.
Figure skating is 15 but talks are trying to raise it to 17 to prevent abuse.

Yes, Simone withdrew from the team comps, she may still compete Thursday, I think, in the individual competitions.

Just watched the woman's basketball game between US and Nigeria. The lead the US had toward the end of the game was eaten up because they started to play not to lose instead of playing to win. I hate when teams to that. They won because they finally started playing hard again.

No one would bat an eye if Simone Biles had to leave the Olympics because of a broken ankle. There should be no line drawn between a “mental” or “physical” health issue. They’re the same and they should be treated like it.
