2018 Ford Explorer. Had a 2010 GMC Yukon that I loved but as I got older I noticed it didn’t have all the safety and driver assistance features that my wife’s car had. Really wanted something that would aid in my driving and that was smaller than the Yukon. Might add that public transportation out where I live is virtually nil. Outside of using a driving service like a taxi or Uber I’d be without a way to get around without a vehicle.

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus. It's one that all three of my sons had used at some point, and my youngest son gave it to me when my 2002 Buick Century was in the shop and I was told it would cost over $5,000 to fix it. My son and his wife bought a new car so I didn't have to have my car repaired.

2014 Chevy Malibu - purchased new in 2014, dark metallic red with a sunroof & loaded with a lot of extras. Prob be the last car I have since I'm already 62 & retired & it's paid for. It also only has about 25 thousand miles on it so we should be good together for the long haul.

I’m enjoying all the responses. The reason I was curious is I saw an article that I found astonishing. Apparently, the average age of a vehicle in America is 11.8 years old. I don’t see how that’s possible. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/ amp/1593764001

Do you expect them to be older or younger than that, so they say? I have a 32 year old car, a 21 year old car, and a 17 year old truck.

Oh heck, while the 2014 Honda is our primary car, we have: 1999 Kia (it's used if I need to go somewhere and Darren's at work or if we have the honda in the shop for something like new tires or brakes and we are seriously considering giving it to my oldest niece cuz we almost never use it.) A 2001 Cheverolet truck Darren drives to work a couple times a month or for hauling big stuff (the gas mileage sucks, lol) and the 2001 Tracker that Caleb drives. While we bought the Honda new, we keep cars until they start to have more mechanical problems that not. We see no point in getting something new when what we have works just fine. Darren is talking about a new truck (his is to the point it seems to have something wrong with it all the time,) but because he doesn't use it all that often, he's not really in a hurry for it.

Wow those are awesome old cars. That RAV4 must be very nice too! A lot of cool vehicles. I expected the average age reported in that article to be much lower (newer).

I expect this to be my last car. Before the 2015 Prius C, my car was a 1992 Toyota Camry, bought new in 1991. 23+ good years. New car just reached 20,000 mi!es.

We have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Funny thing is that I got a five year extended warranty on it when we bought it because I was worried that it might be unreliable and expensive to repair. Guess that was a waste of money. LOL - We were planning to trade it in after four years (before the warranty expired) but then we had our DD's, we got distracted and time passed and it kept working fine and here we are. I'm very fond of it, though it's obviously nearing the end. It was very expensive at the time we bought it but it's clearly the most value we've ever gotten out of a vehicle.

Jimmer beat me to my good buddies Tom and Rita. I actually have very positive feelings about them. 😉 I do have a good friend who was in Hong Kong during the demonstrations and the coronavirus. She has been back and self quarantined for 40 days. She was planning to join us today but is convinced that there is a second strain let loose in Hong Kong and decided to stay in until that is solved. She has family in Hong Kong including a nurse, so she may have info on this. There are cases in Orange County, and several in Long Beach, just over the line in LA County.. Lots of back and forth between here and there.

Tom and Rita were able to be tested right away, not because of celebrity, but because they are in Australia. The U.S. Is still say behind in numbers tested..
