I have for years. It shows all the new messages since you last checked. So the first time you click it there will be a lot! But after that, it's just the new ones.
There are a couple of ways to do this but the easiest is by clicking the little link that says "Check all new messages". It's in the top right corner of the header on every page. It's small and hard to see so I posted a screen cap of it below. 
It will show you a list of all the new messages and then you can click on them.

Oh good grief!!! Twenty years into this place, and I have NEVER seen that tiny Check New messages button. I always use Search and then fill in the parameters. I almost always use the option for All Messages Since I Last Checked, but sometimes only want to check last couple hours, and I can do that too. And then when I only want to check a couple threads for last few hours, THAT is when I use the Do Not Remember This Search option, so I don't lose out on all the "other" threads I didn't read. New Messages is SO versatile.

Good grief! All these years being a member and I thought that was for someone leaving you a PRIVATE MESSAGE. Never saw anything indicating I had a message so eventually I ignored it

Sugar, I use a PC, and that header with the New Messages thingie shows at the top of EVERY thread. Of course, now that I know about it, I am still forgetting to use it. I did use it last night, but not tonight, and it worked perfectly. Thanks, Draheid, I presume. I like to think Dra is always with us, sort of like a benevolent, omniscient presence, even if we have not seen him in years.

My personal vehicle is a 2011 Ford Escape purchased new. Hubby has a 2005 F-150 purchased new. Rae has a 2016 Ford Mustang purchased new. Hubby drives a company issued Chevy Silverado for work and there is also a 2004 Corvette purchased used and 2006 Harley Davidson Soft Tail Deuce purchased used in the garage.
