In my youth, I could not spell weird. Oh!!! I guess because it violated the "i before e, except after c, or when sounded like a as in neighbor or weigh convention". I finally mastered it somewhere in my 20's.
If we are playing on a trivia team, and you have to send somebody up for a tiebreaker, and the category is spelling, don't send anybody but me. Although, it is interesting to note, that as I am becoming geriatric, I am WAY less resolute about my correctness of spelling than I once was. LOL. How's that for two consecutive contradictory sentences? Or maybe not. I have known how to spell syzygy since I first heard it at age 13.

I can't think of a word but there certainly are times when I am not sure of a spelling.
One that is really often misspelled, even by those who should know, is fuchsia.. and I only know it because it was my grandmother's name.
Often misspelled fuchia or fushia.

Neumonia actully Pheumonia. I hate words with silent letters. Whatβs up with that anyway? So much for phonics.
Strange when asked how to spell something, I can verbally rattle it off but when I write them down they look wrong to me.

Oh! And I used to not be able to spell fuchsia, always spelled it fuschia, but now I live in a place where fuchsia is a common plant, so I have developed a memory code for it which is badword-s-i-a.
I did the same with Reykjavik, which was r-e-y-k and then shout out JAVIK!! And then on this most recent cruise, and we had to spell Reykjavik, I wrote r-e-y-j-KAVIK!!! Hahahahaha!!! Feet of clay, feet of clay and mis-firing memory system, LOL.
Heh, I cannot use syzygy in a sentence without looking up the meaning, and I have never seen it written in a sentence since I first memorized it at age 13, but if somebody pronounces it correctly, I sure as heck can spell it. It is actually my favorite spelling word of all time because it is so simple that once you know it, it is almost poetic.
Going to look up meaning now ... Back, and OH!!! It is actually a very cool word. It is an astronomical term meaning three or more celestial bodies in a gravitational system lining up in a nearly straight row. Dang!
Okay, sentence (not a true sentence, just a sentence) - We were camping out last month in the Everglades, where there are a zillion stars visible on a clear night, and our astronomy lecturer pointed out an almost perfect syzygy.
We sometimes go on cruises that have guests onboard who do astronomy sightings at night. Now I can ask them about syzygys. Thanks for making me look it up, Dogdoc!

I am guessing probably not, Dogdoc, as they are probably not within the same gravitational system, since those stars appear static to us from Earth. Like when the Earth, sun, and moon line up in our solar system, that would be a syzygy. I suspect the more moons a planet has, the more often a syzygy forms.

B. If it's in my own neighborhood, where there's very little traffic, I will. Otherwise, no.
We have such a huge problem with jaywalking here it's insane. About 2 years ago, over the course of 3 or 4 months there was something like 8, 9 jaywalking deaths. The cops finally cracked down on, but between the people willing to do it and the fact that parts of our area are still rural and streetlights are few and far between, it's still a problem.
My sister's neighborhood has to be one of the worst in town for jaywalking. People step out between two parked cars without even pausing to see if there are cars, they take it on faith cars will stop in time for them. Worse, they do it dragging their kids or pushing strollers. I flat out refuse to drive her neighborhood at night because you can't see people when they do it unless they are right under the street light. Makes no sense to me what so ever.

B - C Our town is so small it's only a village (no stoplights at all), so I definitely do there. If it's in a bigger town, though, I use the crosswalks.
