I forgot to update on the races today, Saturday. The Kiwi's won both of them so it is 1-0. Since the Kiwi's were the challengers they started -1 to zero, so now are only one race ahead. USA didn't look very good out on the course which I thought was odd because they had been racing really well the first week and could practice all last week and did. So I guess it really does hone your skills to be in a race and not just going around the course on your own. Sunday there will be a couple of races at 10am pst on NBC. They really are fun to watch. https://www.americascup.com/

Oh and there was a great documentary type program after the races on the 1977 America's cup when Ted Turner raced and it was really good.

Hmmmm, not looking good for USA in race 4, but remember, in SF Oracle was down something like 5 to 0 and came back to win the Cup! Although I will say the Kiwi's do have a fast boat.

New Zealand wins Race number 4! And Wow they went flying in. And USA flew in as well at 35 knots but over a minute behind.

Kookliebird, did you see any of the races? I swear sometimes it looks like these guys are wearing white facemasks, sort of like those white hockey masks. But having got a good look today I think they must just have on a ton of zinc oxide.....EITHER THAT OR these are the whitest guys I have ever seen, LMAO.

I think they have five days off now to try and work on their boats, and racing starts again on Saturday with 2 races. They need 7 to win; New Zealand is up 3-0, so could take it on Sunday if they win all the races.

I saw the races for the first time on Saturday. WHAT FUN! I'm biking 500 miles in June (Great Cycle Challenge), and I would LOVE to try cycling whilst helping a boat sail. ****adds to bucket list****

Teach, the cyclers are new this year. I think it is really amazing, that they are using cycles instead of the muscles in the arms from the grinders. Those guys must be in amazing shape to have both legs and arms that can power those boats around the race course.

Finally!!! USA wins the second race of the day forcing the regatta into a Monday race. The score is now 4-1; first boat that hits 7 wins the regatta. USA almost won race 4 but had a penalty for crossing the start line just barely early. Racing tomorrow will be at 10am on NBC.

Oh, I didn't report yesterday, New Zealand won both races, so the score is 6-1. This morning they are running the possible "final" race. USA got a good start but is currently behind on gate 4, it is not looking good for USA Oracle.

AND TEAM NEW ZEALAND WINS the America's Cup. WOW they really deserve it, they we practically flawless in their sailing all week. And the are very happy! First time in ?? years the cup is going back down New Zealand. I missed the number of years because I was busy watching them take pictures, LOL, but it is at least 8 years. New Zealand now gets to say where and when the next America's Cup race will be. Pretty certain the race will be down under. Apparently the next race can be in 2, 3, or 4 years. I would be they won't want to race before 4 years, they will want to hold on to the cup for as long as possible before racing, LOL. The New Zealanders had the fastest boat so they deserve the win.

I am excited, it seems they are going back to high performance single hulled boats for the 2021 races!!! I love those boats, watching the decide which sails to use, changing sails in the middle of the race, it will be wonderful!!!
