It's really the Carriers fault (AT&T, Verizon)...they don't want people texting over wifi because then they can't charge for the texting plans. Most carriers require a data plan in order to text. Especially for Multi-Media messages.

i can understand naja's frustration, because I have the same problem with my ipod. xfinity by comcast offers it's triple play members (internet/cable/telephone) the option to use their home networks to text over via their new application for iphone/ipad/ipod/android. they currently have 2 apps. one called Xfinity Connect (the one that Naja is talking about) and Xfinity TV (in which you can control your DVR's and on-demand) the TV app works fine on my ipod, but the connect is doing the same thing that naja's is doing. it also states it works with my version of ipod and my software version, YET THE DANG THING DOESN"T WORK! it just starts to load, and then stops and quits. it's an Xfinity problem, not our problem. going to complain as they are touting it to all of their triple play customers.

I think I made up my mind which phone I'm gonna upgrade to. That is if nothing bigger and better comes out. I'm really taken with the hTc One X from AT&T. I've already been researching how to crack it. Cant wait!

I saw that phone advertised and I just knew you were gonna grab it!! LOL! Let me know what you think. I can't get it cuz it's an AT&T. I do still love my HTC Rezound. I just wish they'd frickin' give me ICS like they promised.

Costa, don't let HTC or Verizon stop ya...there are ways to get ICS on there. I'm running a version of ICS on my phone right now. AT&T and hTc have already stated they won't release it for the Inspire, in fact, hTC has stopped developing for the Inspire 4G. I'm running Lord ClockaN's IceColdSandwich - 8.0 - AOKP | SoB EDITION http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962} The link takes you to the HTC Desire HD forum. The Desire HD and the Inspre 4G are the same phone. The Desire HD was released in England first...AT&T renamed it for release in the US.

Nick! Guess what *I* finally got? Yup, ICS!! I'd stopped by the local Verizon store the other day to see what the latest HTC phone looked like and the rep said he'd hear rumors about Verizon pushing ICS to my HTC Rezound. So I kept googling and checking and lo and behold... yup. They were starting to push today. I decided I didn't want to wait till they pushed it out to me, and so I went and got the update myself. So far so good. Along with the update to HTC Sense, I'm really enjoying the update. So six months late, I finally am getting what I paid for on my phone. Seems like it was worth it to buy a dual core phone. And now... Jelly Bean! LOL!. (Apparently, a friend of mine got ICS on his Droid Razr and it hasn't been fun. All sorts of things broke. I think I'll totally stick with HTC phones!)

I'm not sure Scooter. I often use my iPhone to read and post at TVCH and it works fine. Does TVCH appear smaller than other websites you have looked at?

Scooter, that happens on my phone, too. I found that you can enlarge what you're looking at by grabbing two opposite "corners" with your finger and thumb and stretching them out.

Or double tap and it should enlarge. Depending on the phone.

Costa...what do you think of ICS? Sorry but it seems like forever since I've been in this thread. I can get Jellybean on my device and. No....not official. I haven't tried to flash a JB ROM cause most of The hacks are still to buggy. I'm not a dev and can sit around working on a partially running phone.

Actually, I'm kinda loving it, although honestly not seeing much difference other than it being a battery hog. More loving some of the enhancements that I got from along with the HTC update at the same time. It's funny, I whined about not getting ICS for so long -- I mean, why spend so much $$ on a damn dual core phone and not have all the functionality available -- and yet mostly it's pretty invisible. I do think it's faster, though, so that's a good thing. But it IS a freakin' battery hog!

ICS = more features which = more battery. More apps can run in background so you gotta watch them. Hold the home button and it should pop up with what's running and you can kill them from there by swiping left or right...depending on phone. That or go into "settings>developer options " then select how you want to stop apps ...say you want the back button to kill an app completely when your done rather than let it run in background. I've not tried it but JellyBean is supposed to be faster and smoother than ICS because they opened up some speed settings that are unavailabe on older phones that can't handle or process the code fast enough...I'm not sure my Inspire would benefit from it. I'm patiently waiting to upgrade to the One X or Galaxy S III. or what may be available then.

Oh yeah, I'm constantly killing apps. All the time. My HTC Rezound was supposedly made to run ICS, so... Does seem to be faster and I do think it's not had a single problem. A friend of mine says her BF has had probs with his Droid Razr and his upgrade but I've not had a single issue at all. It's been well over a month now and not even a single hiccup! Was it worth the wait? Making me wait for eight months? I dunno about that. Am I glad I finally have it? Yes!

I think my Atrix just got the ICS update. It's almost like a completely new phone. Looks and acts different. Gonna take some getting used to.

Hi, I just wanted mention something helpful for anyone who might have an Asus Transformer. I was considering getting the keyboard, but it hit me the only reason I wanted it was because of the full sized USB port. And then I found this guy selling adapters turning the power port into a full sized 3.0 USB port. http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-3-0-OTG-40pin-HOST-KIT-Adapter-For-Asus-EeePad-Transformer-TF101-TF201-TF300-/ It works great. I've had it a couple months now. 15 bucks and free shipping is sure worth avoiding buying the whole KB when you don't need it.

I went out during the sales and bought me a Samsung Galaxy S III. I'm so freakin' impressed with this phone. It's amazing right out of the box, no mod's...just pure stock. The speed and the responsiveness is remarkable. I thought my Inspire 4G was a good phone, but this one blows it away. It took me 30 mins to root it and now it screams!

My brother showed me this cool Android device. It's called MK808 Mini PC. You can turn any tv into a smart TV with Google Android on it with this little thing the size of a pack of BubbleYum bubble gum. He originally got it so the kids could access their netflix account on the spare tv in their basement, but they download all the android apps and do almost anything on it. The wifi is build into it and you can also hook a mouse or keyboard to it. There are a couple older versions of it as well as newer versions. The guy in the video explains it. My brother paid $50 for his, but the prices vary depending on which you get. I know there is an MK802 and MK804 as well. Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNyC7dcXx5w

This may not belong here, but here goes: My android is now 2 years old. I've liked it a lot, but I got some water damage to it a month or so ago that makes some of the screen unresponsive and I have to listen to all calls with headphones now because I can't hear calls without them. No big deal: the phone had reached the end of the contract almost and it was really time to upgrade. So, as I'm looking to upgrade, I start noticing how pretty the windows 8 phones are. I especially like the 8X by HTC (the company that made my current phone). But does anyone here have experience with Windows phones? I know the apps aren't at the level of android or apple yet, but I also don't use a ton of apps. I have Windows 8 installed on my computer and I'm generally happy with it (after initial misgivings about my decision to upgrade from 7) and the apps on Windows 8 are attractive and work well for the most part. It would also be easy to sync information from the laptop to the phone.

Tish, I haven't messed with a windows phone very much but I know people that have them. They're all happy with them. The Nokia Lumina is a great Smart Phone I hear. http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/devices/nokia/lumia-900-white.html

Well, I got the 8X yesterday. I'm still getting used to it. Things I like: the smoothness of the interface and the apps, the clarity of the screen, the overall look and feel of the device, and the way it integrates so many things so easily. What I don't like: that I have to use IE because there is no FF for win8 app yet, the paucity of some apps I'd really like to have (or the poor functionality of others, like FB), and the whole syncing mechanism. Somehow, when I synced my music from my computer, things went haywire and now I'm going to have to spend a portion of the evening trying to get them working the way they should. I'd also been under the impression that I'd be able to sync up playlists from win8 to the phone without any issues, but no: the names of the playlists are there, but the songs IN the playlists are not. I'm hoping it was just a glitchy transfer of information that's the root of all of this. But I'm terribly terribly anal about my music collection and one little thing being awry makes me crazy. So I'm going to have to pray that I can fix this.
