These aren't lendable, but if you like The eReader Cafe on FB, they post the Amazon freebies for the Kindle. I just got Don't Spend it All on Candy. Looks like a pretty good read. http://www.theereadercafe.com/2013/02/sundays-late-batch-5-kindle-freebies-1_17.html About lendables though, can you lend the books you installed on your Kindle via Send to Kinda app? I have all of James Pattersons books, but they were on my PC which I sent to Kindle and not purchased through Amazon.

I don't think you could lend those,at least not through Amazon.

Is Gone Girl lendable? Does anyone want to lend it to me? I am #190 on my library's waiting list so don't think I will receive it in time for our book club next month.

Mak - I read my Kindle copy through our library's digital collection (UpNorth Overdrive). In looking at the Amazon page, it is NOT lendable between Kindles, though (not unusual with Random House - they tend to be higher priced and have fewer lendable books).

Thanks, Teach. One more elementary question, since I have never looked into lending before: Where on the Amazon page does one see whether a book is lendable?

Mak.. you have to scroll down to the Product Details area This is what it says for Gone Girl, for example: Product Details File Size: 2113 KB Print Length: 434 pages Page Numbers Source ISBN: 030758836X Publisher: Crown (June 5, 2012) Sold by: Random House Digital, Inc. Language: English ASIN: B006LSZECO Text-to-Speech: Enabled X-Ray: Enabled Lending: Not Enabled <------ And there it tells what is enabled and what is not. If you OWN a book, then at the very top where it tells you that you bought this book, IF lending is enabled, then it will tell you that you may loan the book to someone. This is from a book I own, The Rose Hotel, which is lendable: Instant Order Update for Lynn Duncan. You purchased this item on January 15, 2013. View this order. Loan this book to anyone you choose. If the book is lendable, but someone has borrowed it, then that last line is absent.

Thank you for that very clear explanation, Seamonkey.
