I saw HUGO with my 11 year old son and 15 year old son. We all liked it. I thought it was well done and the story had enough twists and turns to be interesting.

We Bought a Zoo is a really good family movie. It deals with fairly adult issues though...so it might be more appropriate for older kids than younger (but the little ones might be so distracted by the notion of owning a zoo and the animals involved that the heavier drama might go right over their heads).

I saw Straw Dogs Hiyall and I liked it. Some disturbing scenes and lots of violence very suspenseful.

DH & I saw Sherlock Holmes yesterday and quite enjoyed it. I certainly liked it much better than the first one.

If you like action movies with extremely sexy leading women, then you should check out Colombiana. Zoe Saldana is hotter than just about any other female action star going right now. It's a decent story with nice visuals and a lot of violence. One very cool fight scene toward the end of the movie punctuates what the movie is about. If you like this genre of film, then you will love this movie.

The Wave.

It's on Netflix Instant. It is a German movie so it is subtitled.

Great movie. About how easy it is to create a fascist state again. A high school history teacher turns his class into an experiment with it.

I love that movie and have been trying to find it for my girls to see (although I swear the one I saw was English/American, I think in the 80's?). Based on an actual experiment which makes it all the more terrifying.

ETA: Ya, I saw the 1981 version. I will have to watch the German one, thanks! There is a website for the original experiment if you are interested: The Third Wave

columbiana = tall slim hot actress spending most of movie in tight revealing outfits or Panties.

wasnt impressed. nothing special and frankly the thought that a young child would be a sociopath wanting to Kill people was disturbing.

the whole premise bothered me.

Saw Friends with Benefits starring Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis. We laughed our butts off, especially at the first half. The two have great chemistry. Warning - this is not a movie you watch with kids in the room, probably not even in the house. It's a solid R with lots of nudity and profanity. But it's a fun romcom.

We saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D today and it was very well done. I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, it's my favorite Disney film, but it had some really neat effects.

It's my favorite Disney film too Mamie and I was so glad to be able to see it on the big screen again. I was surprised that they showed the original, and not the version with the added "Human again" scene.

Anybody going to see Very Loud and Extremely Close? I'm thinking about going this weekend but not sure how I feel about it...but it is supposed to be supremely well acted.
