Rented 'The Kids will be alright" and loved it. (make sure no children are nearby) I really enjoy Annette Bening. Recently saw her in an older movie called "Mother and Child" and liked that one too.

Harry Potter's Deathly Hallows part 1 is out on BluRay/DVD. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really liked the movie. 8.5/10 Watching special features now...funny to see how good of friends Malfoy and the Weasley kids are. There is one feature that shows Draco, Ron, and the Weasley twins playing a round of golf together and having a great time...of course it was the actors not the characters...and a short little feature showing how the main 3 are still really competitive with one another, this time in running speed; good stuff if you like that sort of thing.

Faster...for people who love pure action and revenge flicks, this is worth a look; Dwayne Johnson was perfect in the lead role

Not sure I liked Blue Valentine, and not just because it was such a downer.Good acting though.

saw The Mechanic in the theater...for free, so it was all good, but I wouldn't have wanted to spend 10 bucks on it

I AM NUMBER FOUR was releaed today. I watched it and was pleasantly surprised. I'd heard it wasn't very good, but I liked it well enough. I hope they make some sequels.

The Mechanic was good but I thought it was predictable.

This isn't new, but has anyone seen Into the Wild? I discovered it accidentally--a friend gave me the DVD, along with several others. I wasn't expecting much because it is directed by Sean Penn; I'd seen one of the films he directed some years ago and thought it was a clumsy mess. This one? Quite lovely. It's about the story of a young man who decides to forgo law school, and burn the money he's saved for it, to go on some kind of Thoreauvian adventure by learning to live simply. He treks from Atlanta, where he went to school, to the CA desert, to Idaho (I think), and finally to Alaska, where he is determined to live free of money and hunt/catch all his food. Would that it were that easy. It's based on a true story and Emile Hirsch plays the lead role amazingly well, turning from a happy faced young student to an emaciated traveler struggling to survive. William Hurt and Marcia Gay Harden are the parents he leaves behind. The film has moments that veer into pretentiousness--and that's coming from someone who loves pretentious films--but overall it's quite an amazing little film. And it's quite beautiful to watch.

Count me as a fan of "Into the Wild", although it's been a while since I've seen it. It's based on a true story that happened in the 90's, I think. I seem to remember Sean Penn getting permission from the family before making the film.

i've not seen into the Wild. But isnt it truly a sad story siting pure conjecture about why he committed suicide?? Mental illness is very sad but the stuff i heard about this movie made it sound like he was being heroic starving himself to death. I'm not a drama fan so i'll probably never see it.

I thought Drive Angry wasnt too bad. The girl who was doing the fight scenes /violence, is being earmarked to play Red Sonja in the Conan franchise remake. in a still pic the actress really does look like a tall statuesqe Younger Brigette Nielsen
