Is anyone going to see this? I've seen the previews and it looks very interesting.

Natalie is amazing in it. The film overall isn't as strong as Portman (Winona Ryder is in it, a bit, and she's also very good), but it's still quite good.

I want to see this too. Will it be getting a general release? If not, it's scheduled at one of the art/independent theaters later this month so if I have to I'm going to drag us up there.

Some local DJ's were talking about this movie today, and being male, they emphasized a certain love scene between Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. I've also heard that the actual story is Oscar-worthy. I probably won't see this until it comes to cable/satellite, so I look forward to the reviews here.

Well, now that I read a review, I'm questioning whether I still want to see it. I thought it was supposed to be a dance movie with psychological suspense overtones but the review said it's a graphic horror movie about how women are always horrible to each other. Why is it that with all the violence and bad things men do to other men in the movies, it's not typically pathologized (is that the word? is that even a word?) into "men are always horrible to each other"?

The two reviews I have skimmed do not make it sound like a horror film, but a psychological thriller and one with graphic violence. If you've seen his other films (especially requiem for a dream) you'll know he does not shy away from shocking images.

I just saw it and I'm not sure what film the reviewer you read saw Calamity! I'm thinking he just saw the previews for the film, and never saw the actual film. I didn't find the film overly graphic. Would never use the word "horror" to describe it. I'm not even sure I'd use the word thriller. It's a slower character study with some psychological thrilling moments. And Portman is stunning in it.

Brenda is it gross with violence? I want to see it but do not like graphic violence at all.

There's some blood, but no, I don't think it was graphic. I didn't find myself cowering or needing to look away.

I just remembered one gringe-worth moment GAL. But overall, I would not call the film "gross with violence".

OK, Brenda. I may try to see it this next week since "The King's Speech" hasn't been released here yet.

Saw both the King's Speech and Black Swan this weekend. Loved the first and was bored with this one.

Is King's speech a drama, a comedy, a tragedy? What is it like?

It is a true story drama. But there are many funny parts. Very enjoyable.

Loved Black Swan. It has been awhile since I've had goosebumps while watching a movie. It was beautiful, and a little bit scary.

I think Natalie Portman will and should win the Oscar (and other awards) for this. She was excellent. I thought it was interesting and very good. It wasn't as thrilling as other psychological thrillers though.

Black Swan was filmed masterfully, and the cinematographic stylizing enhances the suspense greatly -- moreso than the actual storyline in places, I thought. It really has an European/art house sensibility in its construction. It's a mind-bender in places, and I liked it a lot more after reflecting upon it/its allegories. Natalie Portman was fantastic. It did have it's ewwww grosssss moments, but I wouldn't say it had overly graphic violence, nor is it a horror film.

watched most of it. I'd call it a drama, a psychological drama. thot the ending was stupid. BUT then again, i wasnt impressed. Natalie portman is an excellent actress and really this movie was an outlet to show her great ability. I dont know, guess i've seen too many movies lately. Becoming Jaded !

I didn't love the movie, but whoever pulled that performance out of Natalie Portman is a miracle worker. They both deserve Oscars.
